Hey folks, I'm looking at two different styles for the front recovery points.

I was originally going to go with the black ones but I like the idea of shackles on the front, because I admittedly love to look like a mall crawler when not in trails. That said doing a lot of snow running making sure those recovery points are secure is definitely a must and that's why the shackle version spooks me.

I'm afraid with the shackle version that any recovery involving being pulled at any angle will cause unnecessary strain on the mount and it would only be best for pulling straight. Am I right to think this?

I can probably also fairly assume the way the red hooks are welded to the mounts, that could make for a weak point as well.

These are both made from alloy steel, not aluminum lol

Black ones would be preferable.
The pulling forces are in line with the bolts.
The red ones will twist when forces are applied.

I don't think you could get soft shackles through the red ones without adding steel shackles first.

True enough, never really considered. Probably could with enough force lol

For a stronger material I would suggest forged/machined and not cast.
