Think it also depends on location, I bought in Colorado where they're already selling a lot of TRD trailhunters and pros, I imagine they were just happy to sell me an SR to make room on the lot for more. I bet in other places, that "lowly SR5" is seen more as their cash cow compared to the rest...
Fair enough
That pretty much summed it up perfectly, they went one time to ask if I was interested in test driving the TRDs, I said “no, here’s the stock # and vin number of the truck I want” and they practically started writing the paperwork for the SR.
All that said, I stand by my point. You...
I think Toyota is trying to get out ahead of this in the future with certain dealerships offering to buy completely online with no in-person negotiation. When I bought my 24 SR, I found the truck online at a dealership (difficult to find the manual SR’s in general) about 30 miles away. I walked...
Here's some before and afters of my SR with stock tires vs the 255 80/r17 AT3s
Stock just looked cartoonishly small to me
I'm so happy with my decision to put the 33s on and my gas mileage is still about 20-21 combined per tank, without the air dam and with steel skid plates
Of course...
You're asking a sport sedan engine to move a pickup. The sedans are 2/3 the weight and shaped for aero lmao. Kind of stunning the 4 banger turbo makes such good low-end torque and sits at about 2/3 the gas mileage
I ended up throwing mine on some crates I take camping, or on my cooler. I’ve seen some people put them on their skis, and that looks like a kind of novel idea
Panic is one hell of a drug, took me about 6 months to stop doing this completely (I wasn’t used to a dog-leg[?] shifter lol). On a serious note, that panic of not being in gear when the light changes triggers some adrenaline that makes you a lot stronger than you feel and too easy to put into...
Before reading any responses, upgrading the tires from stock 30” to 33” helped me a metric ton on this and I’ve become a lot more desensitized to the Buck even thou I keep the truck permanently in eco mode with no IMT.
2 things that help:
1) taking 1st gear higher than any other gear...
I've been looking for a way to make my rig better for off-roading since I have a soft top with no rear rack to attach recovery boards too. I've really been wanting to take the dogs out to more coastal areas that have some dunes but I've been afraid with skinny tires to get stuck in the sand
I'm very curious to know what the backstory is of this truck and this post. This seems to be an awfully weird mish mash of deceptive modifications and changes. If OP was lied to by the dealership about buying a TRD that's a legal issue not for this forum. If OP is lying to us, I just ask why...
Taught some friends how to drive off-road the other week. Got some of their cars on 3 wheels for the first time. Think we got up to a 25% grade at one point
Driving in Colorado for a winter (SR) where they don’t treat the roads, it will not take into consideration potentially icy roads for the safety-sense. It gives you a warning when the temperature dips under 37°f that “Roads May Be Icy”, but there’s not a super noticeable change for me in the...
In the research I’ve done, the 50s and 55s should be the same or close enough to be interchangeable, it’s the 00s that are the midsize, even with the smaller flares, and then there’s the skinny mudguards (that came on my SR) that don’t extend out from the body or reach to the fender flares
I assume your off-road has the stock composite skid plate already mounted to the crossmember between the tow hook mounts. AFAIK you shouldn’t need to remove anything but the stock plates to throw on the RCI plates. Here’s a thread on the subject though
like I said, I have the RCI set on my SR...
If you have the SR5 like in your tag, you should need to buy the crossmember, but you say you’ve got the TRD off-road which should already have the crossmember. For my SR, I had to buy the crossmember separately to install the RCI package. The RCI package should mount to the frame support...
