Owned two Tundra's. 22 Limited Non-Hybrid and 23 TRD Pro. Both had similar issues with Transmission Temp Creep running in 4WD.
Extensive discussions on Tundra Forum. Toyota lack of acknowledging the issue the same.
Here is one thread link for those interested: 2024 Transmission...
The cause of the issue is a Toyota engineer failure to design a cooling system with the ability to keep the transmission from overheating under normal offroad use. It's really that simple and the root cause. My old 17 4Runner TRD Pro no matter how hard driven or run off the road had these issues.
Just came back from vacation driving the Tacoma. The Front end was popping quite loud and appeared as brake issue. Dealer finally looked at the brakes - No issues.
Then focused on suspension. Found-Lower control arms not torqued to specs and shifting. Replaced and fixed.
8500 Miles and front Brake pads started moving in calipers. Pretty disappointing at 8500 miles.
They shift when applying brakes moving forward and then backing with popping or rattling when turning. No towing with offroad only improved Dirt roads.
Anyone else experiencing this
I have no doubt the dealer would tell you this. Toyota Quality and CS is pretty crappy these day compared to 7-8 years ago. Have an issue now the TH front end alignment. Dealer claims in specs but cannot answer why front tires ruined in 3500 miles due to excessive outside edge wear.
Mine shifts hard until trans warms up and then is very smooth. It's not on the Vin recall list. Regarding the alignment, they are BS'ing you. Call the CS line and open a case and request they open a TAS Case.
IMO, it's the Pro and Trail hunter elevated suspension and the alignment range...
Hopefully, I can put this together without long summary. February 2025 noticed front tires wearing heavy on outside tread. For sure too much camber. Took it in for the 5000-mile check and yes dealer noticed this as well. So, they rotated back to front and took two days-two tries to align...
The Tundra was aligned with approximately .50 Positive camber. Trailhunter goes in next Monday.
Right now, sitting at LF: +2.0 RF: +.7. Pretty much wore out outside tread especially on the Left Front
Issues with Front Strut Springs and alignment spec. Then the blame game telling owners to contact tire company. Tire Company telling owners it was a Toyota issue. Front had too much positive camber and toe with it wandering all over the place. Of course we went the rotation direction and...
Open a case with Toyota for record.
Gut tells me the issue is the suspension kits and lift for both the Trailhunter and TRD Pro. This is exactly what happened with the 3rd Gen Tundra TRD Pro. Took them two years to admit and then start replacing tires.
Just opened a case on the alignment issue. The concern is the dealers state they are aligning to specification. The issue is the camber specification has too much + Camber. A few minutes digging and it appear camber should be around +.3. This whole situation is exactly what happened with...
Update: Brought the Trail Hunter in today. They pulled a TRD Pro out for front to front view. The Trail Hunter clearly has substantial more camber. Politely requested they open a case with Toyota on the issue. At the rate of camber edge wear, doubtful these will last another 2000-3000...
24 Trail Hunter and ordered the Stillen CAI. It didn't fit as the box impacted several places on the front. Went back and forth with them showing pictures of the issue.
They then wanted me to check other items like this ID of the tube, etc. It dawned on me they had not completed full R&D...
