Search here. Pretty sure I have seen forum posts about calibrating some of the truck sensors (and maybe some are DIY if handy?) if you have an obd2 scanner and diag tool. Can’t recall the details but I bet it is possible!
All manufacturers always err on the side of caution and conservative readings for legal and liability reasons where mechanical systems are used. Because of this, yes, the factory reads high (overstated speed vs actual) when stock and in fact can become spot on with the larger tires removing the...
I have Michelin LTXs 275/70/18s (On stock TRD Sport wheels — with the 55 offset) and it is NOWHERE near rubbing anywhere on the front on stock suspension. Not sure how true the ones you are to size but mine are 33.2” and it fits GREAT.
Very typical. It seems to be estimating mileage using the computer. Also seems to be estimating based on holding about 3ish gallons in reserve. I appreciate that. I know I can hit 300+ miles even on 33’s and still have a cushion of 60-65 miles in most conditions.
I think this fixed it. Had a chance to get 45 mins of highway driving in across the valley last night. Didn’t hear any extra rattles or what I thought was injector clatter. I’ll keep monitoring but this appears to be a great catch and fix!
thanks @MT-Taco!!
Easiest way to remove them is with small needle nose pliers. They have two small metal tabs in the slot. Squeezing them together causes them to nearly fall out and you can pull it out with the slightest tug. They are loose!!
@MT-Taco you were so right on how loose they were. And only on the...
Thank you for this. I occasionally hear a rattle somewhere in the front above 45mph and always was attributing to engine “clatter” but it kind of is annoying and so I will check this to see!
Yikes! With my TRD sport and 33” tires, OTT tune, and SXTH Element CAI, I get about 19-20 mpg in the city and ~22 on the highway (at 65-75mph). I never fill up all the way down at E but easily get near 300 miles before I do (usually about 1/4 remaining on the gauge).
Wondering do we all drive...
Definitely no major concerns (except for gas mileage) at nominal street/highway speeds in 4hi. It can do it, and yes, puts extra wear on the driveline, but it’s designed to be able to do it. Just mileage is all that will suffer!
it really wasn’t needed. I have solid 33’s on my sport and it is pretty much spot on as per Google Maps and Apple Maps via GPS. I assume it reads deliberately off from the factory by a few mph.
Had mine tuned by Wayne over at Copper State Tuning a few weeks back! Loving it so far. Haven’t noticed anything to complain about. Rough “butt dyno” makes me think has a noticeable amount of more grunt in the low and midrange areas!
I’d love any extra MPG if it was to be found but I also...
Can confirm I run 33’s and checking Speedo against GPS it is spot on. Pretty sure the truck was over-estimating speed ahead of time and now is accurate!
