Nothing but land cruisers. I needed to take a step back and get a vehicle that can do most of the same stuff but isn't a concerning obsession. The Tacoma was the perfect answer.
I made a previous thread a couple months back showing the front covers, and now that the rears are released, I wanted to show all of it. For some reason, the page crashes if I try to edit to original post so I’m going to just start over...
I have Yakima 60” wings and mounts on the cab and ordered the leer topper with the Thule crossbar option. I requested 60” but they gave me 48” and I was too lazy to do anything about it in time.
I think it was more like $170, nevertheless, this is only necessary when the front is lifted at all. What id like to know is how the factory lifted trucks are faring or if anything about the needle bearing is done on these trucks. Mine is lifted less than the factory trucks and still was loud...
No alignment necessary as long as you don’t loosen the lower control arm bolts, I wanna say it was just under $200 for the bushing, driver, seal and extractor tool.
I also have the Icon diff drop. I had immediate vibration but it ended up being the needle bearing in the clamshell. I replaced it with the east coast gear supply and created a thread on here of the install. I still have the icon diff drop in and honestly I’m not a fan of the design the way it...
The cost for a shop to do it would be a very good question… maybe someone on here could help answer that better than me. My best guess is that it would be between 300 and 500 in labor. It took me 2 hours to do. All opinions are relative, professionally im a machinery mechanic, but having...
I also found that interesting. Not a problem on stock height but Toyota knows that half the Tacomas they sell will get lifted at some point. I’d be very interested to know what the factory lifted ones have done if anything.
Very nice! I have roughly 2” in the front and had noise immediately, though I’ve heard of plenty of guys who haven’t immediately. Basically, when the truck is in 2wd, the cv idles against the bearing in the stationary carrier as support when the diff isn’t engaged. When you’re in 4wd and the...
Good question and you would be correct. The only difference from the third to fourth gen’s as it pertains to this job would be the oil seal. They sell the fourth gen seal but not a seal driver for it, but it goes in very easily.
I know there are plenty of YouTube videoed on this, but here’s what to expect for the install of the ECGS diff carrier bushing on my 2024 SR5. If you aren’t familiar, all the 4wd Tacomas from second gen (something like that.. feel free to correct me) onward use an idler needle bearing to support...
Looks awesome! Yeah all the howling I have is coming from the needle bearing as far as I know, but once I get the ecgs bushing in I’ll see where it’s at.
Yes I did read about that. I was assuming it was people mistakenly blaming it for the noise made by the needle bearing who installed the diff drop at the same time as they lifted it. When I get my bushing installed I’ll be able to confirm. It’s a dual disengage front end so it shouldn’t be able...
Thank you. I mostly like it but I agree we def could have gone back an inch or 2 because it runs right over that crease directly before the headlight and that kinda bothers me
