My limited came stock with 18" wheels and Michelin Primacy tires. I'm not a fan of the Primacy line. I have run both the stock Primacy and Defender M/s 2 on my 2025 and the Defenders are leaps and bounds better tires. They were more quite, rode better and a better milage warranty, and I didn't...
Sport comes on 18" wheels if I remember correctly. Not cheap but move from 18" wheel to 17" for more sidewall, also Michelin Defender M/S 2 isn't much to look at, but ride quality is really great. And finally as others mentioned, tire pressure can make a difference.
I haven’t worked directly with the manufacturing plants that builds our trucks, but I have been in many OEM engine and assembly plants over the years, including the Japanese brands, and they are more a like than different in their production processes. Automotive manufacturing is no different...
Keep in mind your wheel width. Mine are 8.5“ wide with +35 offset on 265 tires and I just barely have any poke out of the wheel wells. With your 285 tires being 20mm wider, i would stick with 8.5 or 9” width wheels. I am sure plenty of folks go with 285 tires on 8” wide wheels and will enjoy...
Thanks! I have a little experience since this is my third Tacoma.
The tire size is stock size for a Limited 265/65/18. My build intent was OEM+, so I didn’t stray far from stock on any of the mods.Everything I have done is completely reversible, which could be good for trade value down the road.
Raceline Rouge wheels 18x8.5 +35 offset. I also wanted to minimize poke but also wanted something different than black so that limited me a lot.
These are just barely out of the fender wells, looks to be around a quarter of an inch. i am happy with +35 and personally wouldn’t want to add any...
Exactly what I was going to say. Just replacing the stock limited “chrome” wheels alone drastically tones the limited down. Of course once I did that, the rest of the chrome bits went not long after.
I had two 3rd gens and the dam came off both of them because they were fugly. I haven’t measured them but based on eyeball, the 3rd gen dams looked to me to be about half the “height” of these on the 4th gen trucks.
Maybe the 5th gen truck will have them race car style an inch off the ground...
I didn’t mind it until…….The car wash guy was waving me up and the damn dam drugged so loud I think everyone for a block heard it. I may not be off roading a limited, but it’s still a truck. It is ridiculous a truck drags the car wash tracking. That was the last time the dam saw daylight.
Sorry if this has been previously covered, I didn't find anything with my search of the forums. My upper radiator hose appears to be dis-colored for some reason. I have never seen this before. I have just under 5K miles and this is the first time noticing this when under the hood.
Is this...
They are not much to look at, but Michelin LTX Defender M/S2 is one of the best. I got 21 in town with those and without the front air dam. They are rated on Tire Rack much better than the Michelin Primacy. I have had both and there is no comparison in the rain, the Defenders are much better...
During the finance guys BS about getting a monthly subscription to track in case of thief, I said I'd throw an air tag in the truck and it wouldn't cost me every month. He said fine and started to move on. I asked him if a tracker was already in the truck, and he said yes. I said I wanted it...
I actually like the grille. Its hard to see in the pic, but I hit the grille chrome with rattle can clear matte. It dulls the chrome and actually gets the coloring closer to the titanium of my wheels.
