I thought the same thing when I was first looking into it, but my research showed it didn't actually matter with this kind of antenna and the fact that I modified the receive side. 🤷
Yeah, that IS awesome, but I'm not trying to have another subscription fee OR have some company track my location when that information will inevitably be hacked, leaked, or breached at some point in the future.
It's all about the remote start for me. Walking out into the snow/rain/heat/etc to utilize the remote start really diminishes the value, IMO.
Also, I'm not sure if y'all's remotes suck as much as mine, but mine was only working consistently within about 50', and that is outside, using the "hold...
I finally posted my quick writeup on trying to extend the range on this thing. Here's the link for anyone who was interested or who finds this thread later.

I was super stoked to find out that my 2025 SR Model has a remote start, but the range is PATHETIC. I found the antenna module behind the plastics behind the driver-rear seat and soldered a wire onto the antenna. I ran the wire up the rear pillar and all the way across the top of the rear...
I was hoping to find that higher models (mines just an SR) had the auto-unlock thing at the tailgate too, like on the driver door handle. I was hoping to swap mine out, but it sounds like that's not the case? 😕
I found it. It's actually #4 in the diagram above. It's the antenna for the fob buttons and the TPMS. I was able to double my range but its still trash IMO. 😒 I'll post a separate thread with the details.
Whatever it is, I can't find it! I sure don't see anything that looks like that under the back of my truck. 😒 What are your thoughts on the frequencies?
I think it's #5 here in this diagram but I know it's not 3 or 4 as I have found those and inspected them. Those seem to be for the smart key functions.

Thanks again for the reply! I'm far from an expert here, but the 134.2kHz frequency mentioned in those pages above is an RFID frequency (as expected for the smart key functions), but the key also transmits in ~313MHz according to the FCC ID inside the key and I believe this is received by a...
The back end of the center console houses the power inverter (if equipped). It's a good amount of space if you don't have one. I'm adding an aftermarket inverter there and plan to do a write-up.
Dang! That's some great info, BUT I'm looking for the antenna that receives the signal when you press a button on the key fob, not the one "smart key" functions. 😣 Sorry for the confusion! I'd really appreciate it if you had anything similar for that!
Are you sure that's not the smart key antenna? I'm talking about the one that locks/unlocks/remote starts/etc... I think it may also have the TPMS receiver in it too.
I think I tracked this down as the part number for it: 89997-0E050 and I found one page that seemed to suggest it was up under the rear of the vehicle near the spare, but I sure can't find it anywhere! I'm hoping somebody knows! The range on this key fob is terrible!
Edit: Ok, sorry I...
The piece that houses the center console switches just pulls loose if you start in the lower right hand corner.
This video shows it well:
SwitchBoss.com.au has switches that light up white if you don't like the CaliRaised blue version, but shipping from Australia stings a little. Maybe...
