How much of a difference does just calibrating for the intake make, ie. what is the difference between an off the shelf tune with an intake and a custom tune with an intake?
I'm only at 5,000 km (so 3,000 miles) but with all the threads showing shavings in the trans or diff fluid, I'm going to replace mine earlier, say at 10,000 km.
I don't understand the idea of posting about how people shouldn't get an aftermarket air filter and should stick with stock in a thread about a particular aftermarket intake. It's like posting about how healthy it is to be a vegetarian in a thread asking for brisket recipes.
From my reading, here are quantities and specs we need, as well as examples of suitable fluids:
Transmission:
75w90, GL4 - 2.6qts
Redline MT-90

Amsoil 75w90...
I also have a VIOFO with a Dongar adapter and like it. I don't really see it from the driver's side, and I like having more flexibility on the dash cam choice.
Installed the TRD skid plate from Garage88:

It has rubber backing so it doesn't rattle.
A picture of the stock plate for reference:

I also put some plugs in the control arms since I removed the air dam:
You can find them here...
I think a lot of it is people rationalizing to themselves their decisions. Some of the nastiest oil debates I've seen involved people buying high priced oil (like Motul) who changed it every 3,000 miles on a street driven, lightly modified, never tracked vehicle.
