Just bought a new '25 TRD Off-Road last month, about 1,500 miles on it so far and loving it. But last weekend, it started making a really weird noise going down the highway.

I was going down the highway at 70mph and noticed a weird high-pitched sound. I turned off the radio and rolled down the windows, and it's definitely coming from outside the cabin. When I went over a bridge, I could hear the sound bouncing back, and it was LOUD. Sounds almost like belt/pulley noise, like a real high-pitched squealing sound. At first, I thought it was coming from the rear end, but it's really hard to tell.

It doesn't change at all when I speed up, slow down, brake, or swerve back and forth. It also doesn't change at different RPM. I pulled into a gas station, and it stopped entirely below about 5mph, so I can't track it down by walking around and listening. It's done it a few times since then, only at speeds above 35-40mph and goes away entirely when I slow to a stop. When it's happening, nothing changes the sound until I come to a stop. Then it might not come back at all for a few days.

I have a video, but it won't let me upload it here. There's another thread with a video that sounds real similar, but it's not solved: https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/threads/loud-squealing-noise-coming-from-rear.9837/

The dealer can't duplicate it at this point. Any idea what this could possibly be?

I am having the same issue. It's a high pitched squeal and super disconcerting. I brought mine in a few months back, they couldn't replicate it (no surprise, it comes and goes) and then it went away for the most part, but came back when I was on the interstate a week ago. Now it does it again when I am driving between 30-40 MPH. It stops when I come to a full stop and rather or not it happens again is random. This time I took video of it, so the Dealership doesn't just send me away... hopefully.

I also get a different type of squeal when taking sharp right turns at any kind of speed, but possibly unrelated.

The dealer was able to track it down after I had some time to reliably duplicate it. Ended up being the dust cover flange on the rear diff.

To replicate the noise: it would only act up when the truck had been parked for a while, at least overnight, maybe 24+hrs. The longer it sat, the more reliably the noise would come back. At the very least, everthing had to be cooled down to ambient temp for some time. When I would start driving after it sat a while, the noise would start within the first mile of driving, when the temps first started to warm up. If the truck had been driven a few miles, and everything was fully up to temp, the noise wouldn't happen unless it sat for a while again.

The dealer put it on a lift and ran it in Drive while it was up in the air, that's how they were able to pinpoint the noise since it only happens while moving. I would advise them to do the same thing and make sure it sits at least overnight first, maybe even 24hrs to be sure. Obviously, it was all covered under warranty. I've put on probably 1,000 miles since then, and the noise hasn't come back.
