Brake replacement

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone has replaced the rear brakes on a Gen4 Tacoma? Do I need a scan tool to release the rear brakes or is this an easy swap system? I have a lift in the shop and swap motors and trannys but never invested in a scan tool. Perhaps this is something I can do in service mode? There must be a way to get into service mode? Thanks Tim

not on the 4th gen but a few on other platforms with electronic hand brakes..U tube has plenty of videos a scan tool is not needed..
