Reduced engine power

i bought an american tacoma 2024 and shipped out the states to my country

i cannot pin point the issue in the states tacomas are recommended to use lexus oil tickness 0w20 (based on the dealer overseas) toyota dealer in my country for tacoma 2024 which is the same motor and spec uses 5w30
before doing the first oil change l bought a used pedal commander from ebay looked almost new

used it 2 week no problem until l went to the dealer to do the oil change l started getting

“reduced engine power” “

“traction control off “

secondary collision break off

The pedal commander before taking it to the dealer for the 5k oil change l did kinda see it flunky like l would touch gas en eco mode which is the reason why l bought and l would like like it looses all contact with the response of pedal

but again this happened only after the oil change reason of using this oil it’s due my county being more tropical

but in winter we are tops 24c day and night 19c 18c.

summer. can be in th city 32c night 20c

being a thick oil takes more time to get to the components idk

i’ll remove the pedal commander have any one had issues ?

first time i had it, used my scanner and did complain about the throttle response
this second time it didn’t show up.

It's hard to answer for diagnostics other than hoping a Toyota dealer where you are can diagnose the codes. You should also remove your pedal commander modification for diagnostics and check if something like air filter or intake components are seated correctly. Your vehicle should have Toyota's own Eco/Normal/Sport and I recall if not that still have Tow or ECT.

For oil you should follow the owner's manual. The nations where Toyota officially sells the Tacoma have temperature ranges either side of what you state. It's a vehicle designed for and sold in 3 countries where there is tropical and frigid weather well outside of the range you state. Lots of the US exceeds that in a year. Toyota sells the engine world-wide and I think in 15 vehicles now so trust their engineers vs hacks, opinions without merit and money grabs.

didn’t know this engine was on other toyotas as well besides the new 4 runners…

yea manual says 0w20 the official dealer in my county which as been more than 60 years here says 5w30 like l said they use that one as here it’s more tropical weather like puerto rico tiny bit on the colder side less degrees bout 3-4 in avg…

i removed pedal commander, already.. but since l disconnected the negative from battery it resets the whole truck… last time l did the same it took over a week to show the message and leave me idle again on a stop sign 🫩 i didn’t have pedal commander removed tho.

this time l did removed it… ill wait and see
