Hey guys - I dented my tailgate (very sad, yes) and I took my truck to a body shop and a PDR guy. They both want to remove the tailgate to make the repairs. But the body shop guy said he needs $600 to “recalibrate” the camera after removing the tailgate because he says it will throw a code until it’s recalibrated. The PDR guy says it will be fine without recalibration and if it throws a code it will just go away after I’ve driven the truck for a cycle or two. I don’t know the answer. If the PDR guy removes and replaces the tailgate, will it be an issue ?

From a short internet search, it would appear you do. Not sure about the $600 cost though.
You might find this link interesting, the guy recalibrated his own front camera:
Camera recalibration
Jesus Christ that looks annoying. This was about the grill, but I can’t find anything online that talks about the tailgate needing this. Maybe my googling skills are bad. I’ll try AI….

OK.. Grok says you don’t have to 🤷🏻‍♂️
