Sorry, this is going to be long, but I just wanted to drop this here for anyone else considering installing this light mount and shutter delete kit from SDHQ or the fog light kit from Rough Country.
I'm very happy with the finished product.
In hindsight, I wish I had made a better decision on upgrading my grille without the raptor lights and shitty light bar from Rave Off Road, as I feel like the amount of lights I'm currently running borders on cringe. I do really dig this SDHQ setup along with my lower light bar, fogs, and ditch lights, but I digress.
SDHQ Bumper Light Mount
This kit includes the mount, a 3D printed shutter delete kit, and all necessary hardware.
You'll have to check their website for light compatibility but I am running 4x Auxbeam XP-Ultra 3" pods and 2x Rough Country 3x1.75" Black Series SAE fogs. The fit is perfect.
I used a single wiring harness with a 40 watt relay and split the connection into 3 on each leg of the harness. This allows me to control all of the lights on that mount from a single switch.
Installation was relatively easy if you are familiar with disassembling the front clip of our trucks. This kit retains the shutter motor but allows you to delete the rest of the shutter assembly.
The instructions from SDHQ has you remove and discard the 3 plastic trim pieces that funnel air to the intercooler. I was not aware of this ahead of time and did not think it was wise. I had to cut the driver and passenger side trim pieces to fit with the bracket but it does retain most of its function.
Rough County SAE Fog Light Kit
This was a killer upgrade over the factory fogs and it was actually reasonably priced compared to the competition.
The kit includes 4 of the aforementioned Black Series SAE fogs, brackets, hardware, and a plug-and-play harness.
Same installation rules apply - you must disassemble the front clip and take the fog light valance apart once the grille assembly is removed. It's not difficult, just a little time consuming.
The hardware in the kit is shit quality, but I fully expected that. I sheared the head off one bolt during installation and Rough Country sent me a pair of fogs with all brackets and wiring, no questions asked. I was able to salvage the originals and used the replacement they sent for the SDHQ bracket.
The fogs are very bright and have a sharp defined cutoff off as not to blind oncoming traffic. I highly recommend these from first impressions, although time will tell about longevity. The overall quality of the lights seem very good. They plug directly into the factory pig tail and operate from the light stock just like OEM.
***For the people who've I seen ask about the illumination on aftermarket OEM-style switches like Cali Raised offers. You can tap into the beige wire (right-most) of any neighboring OEM illuminated switch and it will give you the backlit illumination when you're headlights are on, no illumination with the headlights off, and the switch indicator light will still function as normal. This does not give you the backlight adjustment like the OEM switches. I personally didn't care about that.
