Good evening, everyone.
I bought my first Tacoma last week, and I’ve been lurking through this forum trying to learn more about it. I love the truck overall, and I’ve learned quite a bit from some of the threads on here.
I bought it to replace my aging Expedition to pull a small camper and boat, and I’ve been disappointed in the rear suspension. The camper is about 400 lbs on the tongue, which puts the axle 1/2” above the stops. The ride is enough to rattle my teeth out. Sounds like suspension help is needed, so I’ve been debating Timbrens or getting an airbag setup from Airlift or Firestone.
That got me thinking…how much headroom do I have on my rear GAWR? It’s rated for 3,000 lbs, and I had no clue how close I was getting when I hooked up the trailer. I couldn’t find a F/R weight distribution or axle weights online, so I hooked up the trailer and drove to the truck stop to find out.
This is my SR5 DoubleCab 4x4 with the upgrade package. Full tank, about 30 lbs of gear, and no driver.
