Ok, lots of lurking, first time posting. I have combed through the forum and reddit and haven't come to a definitive conclusion on this so don't flame me if I missed it somewhere 😂
I upgraded to the OEM trailhunter wheels with +20mm offset (pictured below) and I decided to upgrade the tires while I still have less than 1,000 miles on them so I could sell the TRD wheel/tire combo that I have while they're essentially new. After a lot of research I decided to go with the Yokohama Geolandar A/T4 in 275/70R18 (SL, 43lbs) which are set to show up Monday. I have read in multiple places that you can run up to 285/70R18 no rubbing and that few folks are even running 295, so I played it safe with the 275 since I don't want to lift or level the truck.
I noticed that the Yokohamas have a total diameter of 33.5" in 275/70R18 and that there are variances in overall diameter and tire size from brand to brand. My question is if that half inch going to be an issue... or am I just way down the tire rabbit hole ? I feel like maybe I'm not fully understanding these tire sizes and don't want to be stuck with these tires if they rub. My last truck had a 6" lift and I would just throw on whatever 35x12.5 were on sale and let 'er rip.
Thanks in advance for helping the new guy on the block!

You definitely have the space for the extra half inch.

Using 33s with almost 11" of width, I'm sitting at like 3/4" of space left at full lock.

I'm def moving up a little next set.

Awesome! According to the spec sheet in Yokohama's 275/70 I'll be at 33.5" and 11". Guess I wrote a book for a quick answer haha thank you. Your truck looks great!

Nice choice on tires, i run Yokohama geolander, XA t's on my rig. 255 80 17 a true 33x9.5 with +20 offset and i have plenty of room even before I put the king lift on. The offset of the wheel 🛞 plays a large part with these fourth gen tacomas.
I wheel hard and have never rubbed.

Dang ! Looks good. And functional.
Any pros or cons for you with the narrower width ? That is a size I hadn't considered. I kind of got stuck on the sizes everyone regularly suggests.

Plus
I can run a taller 10ply tire that is narrower than the stock tire. The tire, rim combined weight is only 20+ pounds over the stock tires and wheels which means I get better gas mileage, then, all you fat tire people. As well, it is less wear and tear on the suspension component
I installed a ARB twin air compressor
So airing down the tires and airing up is a breeze.
Cons
REALLY i have a hard time finding anything wrong with my old man pizza cutters, other than I can overdrive them in the corners on asphalt with my Total chaos upper control arms and king droplinks and king suspension.
look on YouTube. They have great videos of showing the footprint of the tire airing down narrow ones. And wide tires, and you'll find that the narrow ones have just about the same footprint..

Haha awesome! I love your set up. And thanks for the skinny on the skinnies!

I don't know what the trailhunter wheels weigh compared to the TRD sport's 18" that I had on, but was surprised to find out that the 33.5" (275/70R18) Yokohama's only weigh 43lbs!

Update for anyone looking for similar info: These 275/70R18's fit no problem on stock SR5 suspension. Even though the Yokohama spec sheet says inflated diameter is 33.5", at 34psi I'm measuring 32.75". My Ark mid mud flaps arrived later that evening and I was able to install them without any issues; plenty of space!

That's so rad!

I will say this is pretty close ...
Might consider a front level like all dogs or westcott until I can afford full suspension.
