We have manufactured bed cover friendly bed racks for three years. We are one of the only bed rack manufacturers that allow trifolds and Diamondback Covers to open, even when the rack is loaded down.
Trifold Covers: If the cover sits on top of the bed rail, it will work great with our bed rack. If the cover is low profile or flush with the bed side, it is much more difficult/impossible to use a bed rack along with it. Toyota utility rails are inward of the bed rail, which forces the rack upright inward. However, most low profile bed covers put the rail right up against the bed rail, leaving no room for the rack upright to go. The factory cover is in this camp. We have had one or two customers work around this by modifying their utility rail. See the second picture and reach out for more details.
Roll Up Covers: Most work great. Same caveat as trifold covers regarding low profile roll up covers. The Bak Revolver does not work great without the T-Slots.
Diamondback Covers: HD and SE work great and can open fully with the 24.5" bed rack. The Switchback can be installed with our racks, but cannot open.
Retractractable Covers: Usually these covers don't work well, unless they have a T-Slot
T-Slot Covers: We work with most T-slot bed covers including Roll n Lock, Revolver X4TS, and Retrax.
Beyond that, our racks are truely modular, made of stainless steel/aluminum, and are made in Pittsburgh, PA. Get TRUKD!
