A couple of weeks after purchasing my new ‘24 TRD Off road about a year ago, o bought a like new OEM roof rack off Marketplace. I loved the look and it seemed well made but the wind noise was horrendous. Still, I ran it until this past weekend. I had ordered a new Trumgeta rack off Amazon and it arrived yesterday. I promptly removed the OEM rack and installed the new Trumgeta. So here are my thoughts.
First things first. I don’t need a roof rack. I never used the OEM rack and will seldom, if ever, use the new one. I admit right up front that I simply like the way that they look. So that being said, o am 100% pleased with the Trumgeta rack. Install was a quick 30 minute job. I had forgotten how pleasant it was to drive the truck without the wind noise. I bought the light duty racks that has the crossbars that fold when not being used. This rack has nowhere close to the capabilities that the OEM rack does but I knew that before buying it. It does not have the big fascia as the stock one does. That, in addition to the folded in crossbars, I’m sure is why it is so quiet. It adds little, if any, wind noise to the truck. I absolutely love it. If you need a rack that you actually use got its intended purpose then this is not what you need. The OEM rack or a heavy duty aftermarket will suit you much better. If you just like the looks of a rack as I do, the Trumgeta is an excellent choice. My OEM rack is now for sale on Marketplace if you happen to live near Cleveland, OH
