One thing we’ve seen truck owners bring up again and again is corrosion — especially if the truck sees road salt, snow, rain, mud, or regular trail use.
So we wanted to share a little more about what’s behind the Auxchemic® Side Steps rather than just saying “rust resistant” and leaving it at that.
The steel step is protected by our Auxchemic® sand-textured coating, which was developed around the kinds of conditions exposed underbody components deal with: moisture, road debris, abrasion, and corrosive environments.
The coating is designed to resist:
According to our internal validation materials, the coating also completed a 600-hour salt-spray test with no visible rust.
We also paid attention to the material side of the process. The Auxchemic® coating system incorporates EU RoHS-compliant material standards, with a focus on reducing restricted hazardous substances and improving material safety.
The step itself weighs about 6.5 lbs, so the idea was to keep the structure compact and relatively light while still giving the steel meaningful protection against the environments trucks actually see.
For us, the goal wasn’t to make a side step that only looks good when it’s new. It was to build one that makes more sense for owners dealing with winter roads, wet weather, work use, and weekend trails.

Curious what matters more to you in the long run: rust resistance, scratch resistance, lower weight, or easier cleaning after mud and salt?

The coating is designed to resist:
- Road salt and water
- Scratches and abrasion
- Everyday impacts and debris
- Coating deterioration in harsh road conditions
