Hearing these are in fact plug and play is the best news I have gotten. I wasn't confident it would work with the halogen signal on the lower trims but now I can go ahead and do the same as I have been wanting to do this.

Nice! I cant take credit for trying it first though. Someone else posted a facebook post of someone doing it. The facebook poster apparently got his TRD Pro headlights from someone who works at alpharex. Coincidentally I got mine from someone who also bought alpharex headlights.

Yea I’ve seen that post but I didn’t see what happens with the extra pigtail and if everything worked 100% for sure. This just confirmed for sure fitment and plug and play capability. Which is what I was after because I don’t want to buy the lights and find while they do work it actually isn’t 100% plug and play.

I might have to see if I can find a reasonably priced pair somewhere, love that they're plug and play.

Is there anyway to change the "light bar" at the bottom to orange or is the Led in that area completely enclosed inside the light/no accessible?

Unfortunately they are sealed units and the DRL is only available in White. It would have been cool if there were amber ones like the 4Runner ones in the Pro/Trailhunter.

Bummer. There's just too much white light on the front of the Taco, IMO - I guess changing the fogs to orange would be a possibility, but it'd seem more balanced being able to change that DRL bar.

I know they are quite different in design but AlphaRex makes a set where you can switch the DRL between white and amber if something like that interests you.

Not a bad option, different style but look pretty good!

I guess another option could be trying to find some 4Runner Pro/Trailhunter headlights

I don't know if they would work or not. The part numbers for even the similar base model options are completely different. They might have different connectors on the back or could have ever so slightly different mounting points.

So a quick update, both the Tacoma and 4Runner use the same 3 connectors for all their headlamps so the 4Runner and Tacoma headlamps should be a plug and play swap across all trims. So if the amber DRL and dual projector is what interests you, they should work.

I just installed a set of oem limited headlights on my TRD Offroad Premium and everything was plug and play. All the functions work and the turn signal does a sequential fade out like it does on the limited.

I specifically wanted the Limited because it says Tacoma on the side instead of TRD Pro or Trailhunter. Makes more sense considering my truck.

The headlights only has 2 functional plugs with a dummy plug where the halogen turn signal is on the older lights. I just plugged the spare wire into the dummy plug to protect it.

Highly recommend if you can find a pair for cheap, Ive only had bad experiences with aftermarket headlights

Hi there I am trying to do the trd pros in my 25 44Runner trd off road premium and just tried only one plug as I haven’t taken my bumper off yet. Nothing worked so now I’m worried these aren’t gonna work in my 4Runner. Same thing as you there’s only 2 plugs and one dummy. This weekend I’m taking it all apart and will attempt to hook up both and see. Hoping I don’t have to send these back don’t really want Alpharex due to having to hook up to fuse box. What do you think did yours do the same hoping I have to have both plugged in. Tried everything with one plug no running light no turn signal or no headlight.

Are you sure on this I just got my TRD pro ones for my new 4.runner tried only test plugging in one plug to see if it does anything and nothing. Super bummed but not totally giving up yet. This weekend taking it all apart and will ply in all connectors. Hoping everything has to be plugged in so we will see. I have a 25 4Runner TRD off road premium trying the trd pros .

Also the trd pros are different than the limited as they have 2 cubes for headlights

I would definitely try it with both connectors before you lose hope. I haven't tried it with only one plug but there is a reason why there is 2 plugs on there. These headlights have a lot going on inside and I doubt they are as simple as powering individual pins to turn on specific parts of the light.

Yes that’s exactly what I was thinking or maybe the one I plugged in was only for the up or down direction for headlights. Everything looks the same so really hoping it will work. From what I’m seeing all around I’ll be the first to do the trd pro’s on a premium. Wish me luck:)
