My "pavement princess" doesn't make any noise from the glove box gap. I can't even imagine what you would have to hit to make it move "as is" from the factory. This is no problem for me at all. I miss a good working glove box light a lot more.... :)
Not sure ... (everything I've read says you do need a subscription) However, even with a subscription , the FOB is a "touch" cranky . It's maybe described, "kinda rhythmic." Just pace it with about a half second or so (at most) between button presses. Just keep the spacing the same and hold...

Unless your truck has been sitting for an extended interval, that's unusually low for a Tacoma, even with Hybrid power system. You mentioned you weren't sure how low it can go to power your electronics. That battery voltage is something like 50 % charged or less. (depending on the chart used)...
I think I bought the cheapest one on Amazon with good reviews. It's been perfect. It has "good enough" quality, works well, doesn't rattle, and I haven't had the slightest problem.
