Email [email protected] with your setup and I'll keep you on the list for when we have something to try. The under-seat location is where we've been leaning too.
On the FMVSS guide, that's taken longer than I said it would. Our current kits will pass, we just need to test for multiple...
@Jobu Fair question and I should have answered it sooner.
Not isolated, not widespread. It shows up on a minority of installs, and when it does it's almost always summer heat inside a closed cap. A sealed topper in direct sun runs well above outside temperature, and the connector interface is...
One thing worth poking at. You said the Toyota dash cam next to the mirror handles heat fine, and I believe you, but a dash cam can work perfectly while still throwing electrical noise onto a nearby circuit. Different failure modes. You could unplug it on a hot day and see if anything changes...
Yeah, that's annoying and you shouldn't have to live with it. Good news is it's usually fixable.
Heat is very likely the culprit. The cable itself is rated well past anything you'd see, but sometimes heat affects the connectors. It can help to unplug and reseat the connectors.
Second thing to...
The reason that pairing keeps not working is that the factory cameras are not composite video units. On the 4th gen the inner mirror camera and the bed camera both land on connector 90980-12F26 gray, running a five-wire scheme. An aftermarket mirror expecting a standard composite input will not...

You need both kits
Toyota Tailgate Back Up Camera Relocation Cable Kit
This covers the backup camera in your tailgate, which the hitch mounted spare will block. Select the Tacoma variant.
Digital Rearview Mirror and Bed View Camera Relocation Kit
This covers the DRV mirror...
I completely agree. We've been working on this problem it's very difficult to maintain signal integrity with a switch. The seat bench is a good idea. I'll bring these ideas up to Austin - he designs our products.
Frustrating one, and worth working through systematically since you've already done the obvious things right.
The route we recommend runs from the CHMSL connector along the headliner to the passenger C-pillar, down behind the pillar trim, under the rear seat, out through the factory floor...
We have a kit for Tacoma's removing the entire tailgate. https://www.ggoffroad.com/products/toyota-tailgate-back-up-camera-relocation-cable?variant=52242034786616
We have details in our instructions on how to install (cables are plug and play) and where to mount.
Let us know if you have any...
That's a fair question.
A Wolfbox is an aftermarket camera and screen. You're buying the whole system, and it works independent of your truck. Our kit doesn't include a camera at all. It's a wiring harness that extends your existing factory camera, so your OEM digital rearview mirror keeps...

Yeah, you can absolutely add a second camera instead of relocating the factory camera. You'd leave your factory camera where it is in the third brake light, buy a second OEM camera plus a second Toyota short harness (86797-0C360 — that harness is the piece people forget, our extension doesn't...
Hi all! Katie here from GG Offroad. We build OEM camera relocation wiring for the 4th Gen Tacoma and 3rd Gen Tundra, and we're glad to be sponsoring here. Quick intro to what we make and why, then this forum is open for fitment questions.
