Very sorry to hear about this happening. Hope you somehow get your truck back and that those responsible are appropriately punished. It’s sad how far backwards things seem to be trending in terms of the general public’s accepting/tolerating criminal behavior——really hope things work out for you...
First off, welcome from another xtracab fan (not many of us out there aside from the commercial fleet guys :) ). Pretty sure you’re looking for “nice/fitted” covers designed specifically for our trucks and unfortunately, AFAIK, there aren’t any currently on the market. I ended up getting some...
I've been happy w/ this set-up (BAK Revolver cover)---- one of the reasons I got it was to keep the Molle panels (Toyota OE) usable and not take up any bed space w/ a canister.
edit: if you have any interest in add'l info. and/or pics, here's a post from when I did the install...
After taking it out on a longer extended drive/trip, the mileage got much better for me. Initially it was disappointing to be getting consistently lower than stated mpg, but after getting it out on the road beyond the everyday routine driving it really improved. The pic below is better than...
Just picked up this little foldable Badlands shovel from Harbor Freight---- it can be used fully extended (straight) as in pic below and at a 90-degree angle as well. Comes w/ pouch and hardly takes up any space in the truck.
The pic in my above post that isn't the Amazon listing is my truck---- I like having them mounted to the side bars of my rack (the extra height provides more stability when hauling taller items and if wider-than-stable-in-bed items get transported on rack they're helpful as extra lateral...
My cover is made by the same company (BAK), so these might work for you if you're still looking. I've got them on the side bars, but most people mount them to the bed rails like you want to do. It looks like the pic below from Amazon shows them on the rails.
I leave it on. It's attached using 8 bolts in the T-slots (2 at the base of each of the vertical supports as circled in the pic below). The only situation I can think of where I'd want to remove anything would be needing to fit something in the bed that was taller than the crossbar nearest...
It's the Elevate rack. I've been very happy w/ it so far---- if you're interested, I posted a write-up w/ pics after doing the install (which was very easy).
