This is Lake Speed Jr. His father was a NASCAR racer for years and JR worked for Joe Gibbs Racing and developed their lubrication program. He also developed Driven racing oil product. I use Driven DI20 in my truck thanks to this guy. I highly recommend everyone to do exactly what he says to do...
After the first 396 miles I conducted multiple dyno simulations driving in manual up hill and full rpm red line. You must be smooth on the throttle just as if you were in the dyno room. Frequency was 2-3 times per week until the 2700 mile mark. I let oil analysis determine when I stop this. I...
Here is my last two changes. Notice the first change was 396 miles, column to the right. Fuel dilution much better and contributed to proper driving to seat the rings.
True, however, we all have low tension piston rings. You get only 1 chance to break in the engine correctly, seat the rings. The piston rings and cylinder bore surface is where the engine life happens.
All great information and why I joined this community. I know this can get in the weeds but...
The idea here is to simulate a dyno pull.
1) Find a stretch of road with a straight and moderate up hill grade.
2) Put the truck in manual shifting and ease through 1st and 2nd at normal easy rpm.
3) Once you get into 3rd push the throttle down as you feel the load but not all at once and...
Fuel dilution is an engine killer if the engine has already broken in. Fuel pushes past the rings and into the oil. This is normal for a new engine as the rings form to the cylinder walls. Have your oil analysis done to confirm how much. Full break in can last up to 10k miles as oil analysis...
Watch this nascar oil analysis expert explain how and why you should change the oil. I have a new TRD Sport and have just hit 3K miles on it and have changed the oil for the 3rd time based on oil analysis data. The break in period fills the oil up with wear metals and other containment. Be smart...
Nice fab work on your collars. I agree with the attention to detail. You can make about anything to work, but man, it's criminal to see anything fabricated other than factory design and specification used on a 60K truck. Excellent work.
When you weld in, I recommend two small welds as the...
If you have a look at your frame you have 2 different size holes. This is not a factory weld-in. For me, I wanted what the factory designed and fabricated. This is a shade tree mechanics version.
I have measured as I went. Multiple trial pieces made and adjusted. I have the final made. I do not have a drawing but I will make one and post. I will advise that the inside frame tube can slightly vary due to hole punching process and mass production. These are a pain to make until you make them.
Not sure yet but it will be less than the ARB recovery hooks. Not looking to gain much profit but rather help anyone who has the models without a reinforced frame. I'm actually a bit aggravated that 50K won't give you this already. Nevertheless, I will post everything in a week or so. Thanks for...
