Are these effectively "high clearance" flaps that don't take more room than the OEM flaps?
Also, is that super shiny gloss for making them easy to clean? I would prefer matte, but maybe this has an advantage.
Lastly, I hear these are more flexy than the RokBlokz or ARKs. I need flexibility...
You mean the plastic part where the metal clips hook into?
Man, that concerns me. I’d have to buy a whole new air box. Maybe I should let the dealer break them.
Oh shit - I just realized that toyota sent me a video of their inspection and they DID check the engine air filter — it’s “still good” — they just messed up the documentation.
Will check it anyway when I get a new filter.

Ok. I will order a new filter. You guys think 20K is a lot? Houston is not that dusty but my ranch is. Most of my time is in Houston.

@lauren01 sent me a good YouTube video that shows how you detach the sensor. I’m at 20K miles and you guys have me worried that I need to swap it out.
Thank you ma’am!! Yes you’re right I should clean it. I won’t wait to 30K. But I will wait until I’ve got all the cleaning stuff, another filter so I can clean one and load the other one in, and some idea of how to get it out easily. If I find out anything I’ll let you know.
As far as...
I’m at 20K miles and did the 20K service at the dealership .. when I got home I noticed that the paperwork claimed that my filter was “after market,” so they didn’t check it!! I called them and chewed them out .. knuckleheads … they apologized and said they have serviced very few halo models...
Was yours pre-oiled? And is the TRD pro filter a nightmare to remove as well? I honestly don’t even know how to separate the housing far apart enough to get the filter out. Besides the sensor wires that don’t permit you to pull them too far apart, the hosing doesn’t flex at all.
If I ever...
Haha, yeah I did the same exact thing. I got a step, got my hand underneath, and clipped it from the side. It clipped right on.
Was yours clipped already or did you find it open ?
