Two biggest factors (IMO) are stop and go traffic and speed. I've seen various comments that fuel efficiency increases over the first few thousand miles but that was not my experience.

They probably get paid more for actually changing parts than they do for diagnostics. Mechanic in the video above also has a video on why you should want to pay for diagnostics and mentions something to that effect.

Before this one I had a 2013 pre-runner. Before that I had a Nissan Versa with a tiny engine and rubber-band drive. Actually liked the belt-drive transmission. My daughter has it and it's somewhere over 100,000 miles without breaking.
