  1. Love the Trailhunter... But That Intake Noise?

Agree, with windows up, barely there, non-issue. For me, unfortunately, window down sitting in passenger side in particular, its rough. Unfortunate, but nothing an ear plug in the right ear can't solve. Just found it interesting no one else ever experienced something similar.
  2. Love the Trailhunter... But That Intake Noise?

Yes, no comparison as regards intake noise." Now, compared to non-hybrid w/o hood insulation. That TRD Off-Road we drove sounded like a calamity of loose parts, in comparison. If were looking at non-hybrid, I'd definitely be purchasing the hood insulation :)
  3. Love the Trailhunter... But That Intake Noise?

That was my early expectation, too. I was primarily concerned about my wife. Nah, couldn't care less about it (one way or the other)<g>.
  4. Trailhunter auxiliary gas tank

Have to smile—“no mods,” yet you've listed four of them. You don't say, but if you're using a full-height bed rack with an RTT standing over the cab...that’s practically a wind sail. Let's tally it up: RTT: ~150 lbs Bed rack: ~74 lbs CBI Covert bumper: ~104 lbs WARN EVO 12-S winch: ~72 lbs...
  5. Love the Trailhunter... But That Intake Noise?

Howdy, As mentioned elsewhere, we recently test drove a Trailhunter. We're almost certainly going to buy one—no shortage of them out there. Watching all the reviews, I had a suspicion the intake noise might get annoying after a while. Turns out, it did—for me, at least. As a passenger, it had...
  6. 25 Trailhunter Test Drive – Great Truck, Brutal Ride

This past week, my wife and I finally got to test drive a '25 Trailhunter. We’d already driven the Off-Road Premium, TRD Pro, and both the 5' and 6' bed versions. But the Toyota dealer 1.5 miles from us has never had a Trailhunter come through. So, we drove about an hour to find a dealer that...
  7. DIY Center Hood Stamp

Turned out well. Thanks for sharing. My wife and I have been discussing options for things we want to do on ours.
  8. Any Build Regrets On Your Tacoma?

Steel or aluminum, can be a tough call to make. When we did our first built 4x4, I went all steel (bumpers, tire carrier, armor, rock sliders). What I found in 10 years was most hits were minor, a couple were a bit 'firm'<g>. In hindsight, I'd have preferred aluminum and, if a part got...
  9. Trailhunter auxiliary gas tank

Howdy, I don't think I'd call it fallacious. They've simply kept the same standard # indefinitely. They could change to 70 and folks would say, but we drive 85 out here... The further east you go, the more dense the area, less likely you are to find 70 or 70+. In Detroit area, you have to...
  10. Trailhunter auxiliary gas tank

Seems common that most folks are not seeing the EPA rated mileage with their Trailhunter. We're expecting to pick one up in a couple weeks. I have not heard anything this poor though. Don't think I caught it in the thread... have you started modifying tires, lifting, etc? Tad more context will...
  11. SmartCap Experience. Water Ingress anyone?

Timely thread. As I research caps, there’s one I can immediately rule out. The range of issues contributors have pointed out here is inexcusable. Seals, powder coating, construction, and installation—these are well-understood practices by now.
