  1. Carista OBD2

At times when the seat belt ding needs to be off I use The Tikit (from Thetikit.com). For a very few $ they work perfectly. Dog in the passenger seat, groceries, constantly opening gates or getting out to shoot varmints or pictures. Don't buy just one, you'll be giving it away or a friend will...
  2. 4 ply or 10 ply?

I ran 10 ply's on my '19 Taco OR after ripping out a side wall on the OEM 4 ply's in the back country. The ride and noise were not an issue, but the mileage did drop some. I'm old now and don't plan on going into those areas any more so the 4 ply's are great. Have noticed a drop in mileage with...
  3. 18 inch wheel stock to a 17 inch aftermarket?

Talk to your service manager or the parts guy at your dealership - or one you trust if that's an issue.
  4. Truck cover - best recommendations?

I had an OEM back-flip style on my 2019 TRD OR and it leaked a lot. The similar one for the '24 TRD OR long box had some obvious improvements so I bought it. It fits much tighter with a few seeps.
  5. West Coast Road Trip Report in '2024 Tacoma Off-Road Long Bed

Next time you pass thru OR and see a truck scale on the rural highways with no one around, zip in and weigh yourself. Most are on 24/7, it's a public service, very helpful, free and accurate. ODOT just rebuilt the scales' platforms and approaches outside of John Day and Burns.
  6. Class action lawsuit filed for transmission issues

When my tranny failed, the service mgr at the dealership read the codes, called the engineers as directed and gave me a rental. When the new tranny came in she would not install it until a new torque converter was delivered. 7600 miles later, 1000 of those towing a trailer, and its doing fine.
  7. OEM Tonneau Cover leaking 😱

Randyg, I had the OEM cover installed by a dealership. Gotta say it works better than the others I've had, that said it does not leak as badly as yours. The front corners have small holes that couldn't be plugged because of the design are my biggest culprits, but I've not had water on the...
  8. 2024 Tacoma Auto Trans in manual mode

Like Goriders said, Thanks for the insight and understanding.
  9. TRD OR STOCK TIRES PSI - OMGGGG

A friend and I bought from two different dealers. His TRD Sport and my OR both had 48 PSI tires. Dropped them to 35 and enjoyed the ride a lot more. Guess we should have complained, but just fixed it it.
  10. TSB: 2024 Tacoma Transmission Failures Issue & Replacement (9/9/24). Updated w/ VIN Lookup Tool

I don't want to spread unnecessary concern, just my experience. Not sure if it had anything to do with it, but most of my driving was in the "Eco" mode and got 19 mpg +/-. Since replacing the transmission I've run in "normal" and have been getting 23 - 25 routinely.
  11. Rust on the seat from metal underneath

I'm sorry you had that experience. My "sales team" was weak, but the service mgr and that part of the dealership went, and has continued to go above and beyond. No BS, no smoke and mirrors, no excuses. If it ain't right they look for a solution. It has made my purchase good.
  12. TSB: 2024 Tacoma Transmission Failures Issue & Replacement (9/9/24). Updated w/ VIN Lookup Tool

The only thing that really stood out was poor MPG's. A friend bought a similar TRD and was consistently getting 3 to 5 mpg better than I was. One afternoon I stopped at a red light, when it changed, my rig wouldn't move. I ran the shift selector from D to P and all other stops with no movement...
  13. TSB: 2024 Tacoma Transmission Failures Issue & Replacement (9/9/24). Updated w/ VIN Lookup Tool

tankk69 - I am new to this forum but had my transmission go out at 2500 mi. In looking at an earlier TSB the first letters were different in some of the affected VIN's. The numbers varied with those first letters as well. Bottom line, my impression is the whole string is important. BTW it took...
