Finally located my round to-it and did some drop-in screens for the side sliders. A bit crude but I couldn't talk myself into buying a 3-d printer just for this. Had some 3/8 HDPE kicking around and between wood router bits, an oscillating saw and some utility knife work I got something built...
Which one? The Reno Slider looks about as compact as you can get. The DRT looks like you could cut the eye off. There's another entry since this thread started.

If you search on Amazon for "hitch skid plate" there are quite a few...
Yep. If it were me, I'd fill up, find a route where I could drive 100 miles at 65 or so without any stop and go, reset a trip meter and do a round-trip using cruise control. Then fill up again and calculate mpg. If it was still below 16, I'd head right to the dealer.
Yeah, my "privilege" came from 10 years of putting every extra dime against debt. No new cars, no air travel, no resort vacations...
Started that before I'd even heard of Dave Ramsey.
Just to clarify. Does Toyota navigation generate new driving instructions while off-line?
Google maps will not. I downloaded the maps for the area I was going ghost town touring and after using directions to get to one I could not get new directions to head back the way I came. Used the Garmin...
Wouldn't take much of a re-design, just a software change. For hybrids, it's one of the things that hybrids are designed to do. They have the power to start accelerating without the engine running.
I don't recall if the option disappeared or not but I did have an incident where I had to connect by USB to pair the phone and get the app to connect. There was a message on the screen that told me to use the USB port. After the app got set up again, I was able to unplug and use it wirelessly.
I did finally get mine wet and had one leak. My brother and I assembled this one using the correct torque on all bolts. Still had 4 or 5 spots where the seal popped up over couple months or so of use (mine was from the first production run of 6' shells from last September) but it had not been...
Yeah. My DTE display is trending the opposite from what people complain about here. I think it shows too high. I'd rather just have an accurate fuel gauge that show what is in the tank and was not tied to how much further the computer thinks you can go.
On the return leg of my last road trip...
You mean like these:

Edit.
Now you got me started looking. I think I'd lean more toward this one because you can remove the cross rails rather than just fold them. I think you...
Looks like it's just the front half of what everyone else is producing. And it's only 14 gauge (a bit over 1/16 inch). Victory 4x4's plate is 3/16 inch for comparison.
It might be just the thing if you only need protection from thrown rocks and the occasional oops. IIRC there were some people...
