Amazon Skid Plate

Has anyone seen or installed this skid plate from Amazon? Thoughts. This is my first Tacoma and first skid plate install.

Looks like it's just the front half of what everyone else is producing. And it's only 14 gauge (a bit over 1/16 inch). Victory 4x4's plate is 3/16 inch for comparison.
It might be just the thing if you only need protection from thrown rocks and the occasional oops. IIRC there were some people who mentioned that is all they really needed.

Yes I purchased it on ebay, exact same one so check prices at both sites. Highly recommend. This plate is made for Tacos without a cross member like the Sport and Limited. If yours has the cross member like the OR or Pro it will not fit. Comes with all hardware, it’s a 15 minute install, all bolts can be reached without jacking up the truck. Quick tip, lay it on the box when you slide it under the truck so you can move it around without scratching it.

Agree, this is not for hardcore rock sliding or real heavy off road. It is more than enough for trails, dirt roads, and highway protection without the weight of a heavy off road skid. Note that this does not fit on trucks with a cross member like the OR or Pro so people purchasing this will have an SR, Sport or Limited and did not buy off road trucks anyway. But agree fully, it’s not for everyone

Thanks guys! I have the TRD Sport, and this truck would see little to only minor off road here in sandy S.C. with occasional trips to OH if any. I had to take off the large plastic air-plow which got demolished by some high speed road debris on 95. They wanted a ridiculous $337 to replace the air-plow and I'm kind of ok with the look of no air-plow so here I am. Just want to get rid of the useless and tacky "felt pad" that's left hanging under there now with something visually better that doesn't cost $500. Won't be rock climbing (intentionally anyway) but don't want to totally chinch out. Just want something that looks decent. Kind of liked this at the cost, and it has filter access. Only thing holding me back was the company not being a well known brand and the slightly obnoxious red TRD logo.

Sure no problem. When I got mine in October on ebay they offered red or black TRD letters, I was not crazy about the red either. I did add red tow hooks and I think just their splash of red with the black letters is a better look.

No it would not fit back on.

Very frustrating for us Canadians. On Amazon.com it is priced at 229.00. Exact same item on Amazon Canada price is 667.00. This is ridiculous and it makes it so much more expensive for us Canucks to mod out trucks.

Is it possible to find someone close to the border from you and have them buy it and give it to you? Then you could pay that person the cheaper price. I’d do that for you guys if I lived up north. Unfortunately I’m way down here in the south.

Lifelong hockey player, one son played in college, now four of my grandchildren play. Many trips to Canada for tournaments over the years and pilgrimages to the Hockey HOF. Lots of love for my northern neighbors.
