If it doesn't seem worth it, don't get it? In Canada, there's no upgrade package. It's just OR or OR Premium. At least you have an intermediate option if you want the JBL system or trailer brake controller ?‍♂️
I just noticed that there is no mention anywhere of the sway bar disconnect on the OR. On the US configurator, you select Premium + Sway Bar Disconnect. No option for that in Canada, so is it standard or not available?
That was for the transmission. The trans was also the justification for cold weather warm-up, but it does seem excessive and actually violates idling bylaws in some regions.
Finally! Now hopefully they clean up the specifications. According to this, the Off Road Premium is equipped with both a 5' and 6' bed (in reality only a 5'), fabric and softex seats (actually only softex), a 7" and 12" Multi-information Display (only 12"), manual and power seats (only power)...
Toyota.ca has indicated that the Sport will be gas-only in Canada since May. Your dealer should know this.
I want the same configuration and was bummed about that when they released the Canadian package info. I'm still crossing my fingers they will offer the 6' on the off road hybrid, but I...
That's correct. They've been taking orders on the gas models since September. When I went in and talked to my dealer in September, the system was showing January for hybrid package info to be released, but that may have changed since then.
Sorry, but how are we getting less? Better chassis, more torque at lower revs, better transmission, way more tech... Every review so far has indicated it is incrementally better than the 3rd gen in every measure (including efficiency, despite your above statement).
That's the cooling test. There's a very long uphill climb that they use for this. Minimum ambient temperature at a minimum speed and the vehicle must complete the climb with no temperature warnings. For downhill, I think they only check a stationary parking brake hold iirc.
So to be clear, a rear differential is most definitely in ALL tacomas (otherwise the rear wheels would not be driven) but the locking rear differential is definitely in all Canadian off road models. See...
