So can you put a charger/maintainer on the hybrids by connecting to the jump post in the engine bay? Can you install a permanent trickle charger connected the same way? I asked the dealer and the answer I got was….we don’t know. We will have to find out. I’m still waiting to hear from them.
Yeah I bought a jump pack too. Leaving a window open in the truck…works in the garage but the garage doesn’t have windows that open :(. It’s a bit of a dilemma as we travel sometimes for up to 3 months.
I spoke to Toyota about installing a trickle charger. To be fair, I don’t know much about this stuff and the guy wasn’t super clear. He was saying something about the Toyota trickle charger and a temp sensor….and having to leave a window open. Which, depending on where you are leaving your truck...
Interesting. When I spoke to the dealer they said it's all the stuff going on in the background of new cars that causes this.....like you said sounds like an excuse but may be true. If true, that's crazy. Left my 2013 4Runner with 400000km on it in the Montreal airport parking lot in Jan-Feb for...
I totally agree with you. It’s not acceptable. They just kept telling me that they deal with it all the time with new cars….and they install loads of trickle chargers for people as a result. They said Toyota is aware and supposedly working on it. I’m guessing that means for future models.
I took mine to the dealer when my battery died. The dealer charged and tested the battery. It passed the test and so they said there was nothing they could do. Toyota will only cover battery if it fails/gives a code
Mine is the same as yours. Recently did a road trip and watched the gauge over about 1000km. The vast majority of the time the gauge read roughly same as in your pic. There was a short period where it jumped to about half way. No idea what made the difference. Also have a jump pack and am going...
My Pro sat for 2 weeks. Dead as a door nail. Put the tester on it and it read 2.6V or something like that. Took it to the dealer. They put it on the charger and ran the test. Battery passed so they said they couldn't replace it. I complained exuberantly about how pathetic it was that a new...
Yeah….its not going to break the bank and is easy to use. Rather come home to a truck that starts and in long run, the battery draining right down over and over won’t be good. I think it’s my best answer.
Went to the dealer. They charged the battery and ran battery test. The battery passed the test. He says he can’t replace it unless it comes back with a code. As for the drain issue…..who knows. I’ll see how things go over the next little while. Definitely buying a jumper pack. It took all of 5...
