Reading some of the negative comments here, you’d think the OP had insulted their mother. Not sure why certain people on these forums take opinions of a vehicle so personally (unless they own a lot of Toyota stock). The OP was obviously attracted to the new Tacoma initially because he had put...
Well, time to go back to locking hubs. ?
I’m sure the Toyota engineers will determine why that component failed, as I wouldn’t call what I saw in their video “extreme conditions”. Hopefully it was a one-off defect and not going to become a massive recall.
Welcome to the forums, Yimmy. It’s unfortunate your first post (and motivation to join) was to criticize another member for expressing his opinion. Why do you say none of his six reasons are really valid? You don’t even know what his situation is.
Me personally, I haven’t lost interest in the...
I can speak to this as well. About five years ago, my Subaru began acting strange. At first, the digital odometer began showing weird symbols (e.g., like “-“ or “_|”), making it impossible to read. Then random dash lights would illuminate. I had even tried disconnecting the battery to reboot...
How is the nighttime image quality? Can you make out license plate numbers? How about in full daylight? Does Toyota list what type of sensor it uses?
From my experience, most dashcam models perform poorly in low light conditions. At night, the reflection of your vehicle’s headlights tends to...
This is exactly the kind of deal I’m looking for. A TRD Off-Road with just the 14” display and heated seats. Hopefully in a few months I’ll find one in my preferred color (octane, ice cap, or blue crush). I live in Georgia, so unfortunately I have to contend with SET and their port-installed...
My previous vehicle was a Grand Cherokee that had dual-zone, but I kept them in sync most of the time. My current vehicle (which I’ve had for over 10 years now) is a Subaru that has single-zone. I don’t miss the dual-zone climate controls.
To each their own, but the 5’ bed double cab looks good to me. More importantly, the 6’ bed double cab will not fit in my garage. If I didn’t care about the latter, I’d probably just buy a full size truck for more rear seat leg room (and overall larger interior) and greater payload/towing.
You sound like me. I’m closely following the allocations for my local dealerships. I find it super frustrating that the Off-Road models all have crap I do not want, like predator steps (which seem like a liability off-road and offer little practical use), spray-on liner (which I despise), $130...
I’ve rented several vehicles with auto stop/start and although they offer a way to disable that feature, it does not persist and has to be done each time you start the vehicle. I’m sure that limitation is mandated by federal regulations, so the automakers have no choice. I realize not all...
At the end of that review, I felt that he was overall happy with the truck. His summary was that the new Taco shares what made the previous generations great, but Toyota has refined it and made it better. At 22:49, he says “it still drives and feels great”.
Of course, I always take reviews...
When it comes to 4WD, I’m of the mindset that I’d rather have it and never use it, than need it and not have it. I’ve owned several 4WD and AWD vehicles over the years. Yes, there’s more maintenance (e.g., transfer case and front diff fluid, front CV axle shafts, etc.), but it’s really not...
I’ve owned several dashcam models over the past 10 years. I currently use a ROVE R3 and have been happy with it for the most part. It’s a little pricey, but I got mine on sale for $300 and it has three cameras (front, cabin, rear) that are nicely combined into three channels. Their iOS app is...
Are you sure it’s just the hybrid Limited that gets full-time 4WD? According to Toyota, the ICE version is equipped with it too:
https://www.toyota.com/tacoma/features/
Edit: I just noticed that “AWD” is listed for the hybrid Limited. But both show full-time 4WD. Interesting…
CVT issues aside, that’s one thing I really like about my current vehicle (Subaru). I owned a 2006 Grand Cherokee 5.7L several years ago and it also had full-time 4H, but also selectable 4L (with electronic locking diffs front and rear). Even on wet roads, having full-time 4WD (or AWD) is...
I thought that’s what the SDM option is that’s included in one of the premium packages, as shown below. You can also add it separately or as part of the upgrade package.
I Agree. I’ll never buy a vehicle with a glossy dash/buttons. They attract swirl marks and scratches like crazy. I recently rented a Hyundai Tucson, which had a large glossy black infotainment system and center console. Swirl marks all over the glossy black surface. The touch-sensitive...
