Exactly. The app sucks. I went back to the key fob and my phone battery is happy and I am no longer frustrated. Great idea, but poor execution by Toyota.
My experience was the same. Delete that app. It sucks! I thought I would miss it but the keyfob works fine for me. Toyota really put no effort into the app and it shows.
No ramps needed for my off-road. The annoying part is removing the plastic covers (def not skid plates) to get to the oil filter and pan, so a small electric impact for the win. You'll also need a plastic cup to stick under the oil filter to avoid a mess.
That sucks.... I feel for you. They probably did not replace the torque converter (yours prob happened before the advisory to replace it when changing the trans) so it will fail again... I think the lemon law is 3x the same problem though. Dont let a lawyer take your money if the dealer is...
My TRD Offroad gets a little funky about the key fob not recognized at times when I am inside. It likes the fob near the cup holder area but if it's in my wifes purse on the passenger side it complains randomly... Never had an issue with entering the truck though.
Searched the forums for this exact reason! Mine chirps twice on startup here in Florida when sitting for a bit :) It sounded like it was the AC clutch. Prob normal then and not a one off situation given the number of people reporting it.
I personally wouldnt use it. It works when it wants, then requires you to delete the app, sign in, sync as others have said. The Toyota app is a POS. Back to the keyfob for me.
