The switchgear feels just fine. I think the 4WD shifter is a little quirky in my opinion, and the radio volume knob is small and without any kind of grippy material. Otherwise, I like how everything feels and functions. Its not as bad as your thinking.
I saw a blurb somewhere that the transmission was a Jatco-manufactured 8-speed, but dont have much more info beyond that in my own research that I was able to find. More on the T24A-FTS, and basically nil for the tranny.
Update: I was able to find from my previous search history the following...
Have only run 87 since I purchased mine. But the unfortunate things we have to deal with are LSPI, or low-speed pre-ignition aka Dieseling as mentioned earlier. However, I think that Toyota addresses that specifically with both port and direct injection on this truck. LSPI is entirely prevalent...
I agree. I've always been a fan of that. I didn't bother with the analysis, but will do so starting with the 5K change. As for shavings in the metal, I've seen that in the past on some of the motorcycles I've owned. In particular, I remember this being a bit of a thing with the Japanese bikes...
This is just an update from my previous change @ 1000 miles. I will note that I specificlly cleaned my oil pan and drained the engine oil from the pan prior to changing the oil filter. With that said, there was no manufacturing debris in the engine oil, rather it came from the oil filter. The...
Not to derail the original topic, but I do find it funny that everyone upon everyone seems to dislike the TFL guys. I think someone here in one of the threads referred to them as "shills". I think that's a fair comment, although I think that's also true for most of the Youtube auto "journalists"...
I'm no Toyota fanboy. I've never been, but I'm very happy with this Tacoma. I wasn't even considering it replacing my '21 Silverado High Country. I wanted a smaller truck and had been wanting one of the GMC Twins (Colorado/Canyon), but after a few visits to several GM dealers, I was less than...
I perform my own maintenance as well, and I can certainly sympathize with your thoughts, however, the answer is "no". You don't need to take your vehicle in to ensure the warranty maintains effect. The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act covers you. So as long as you are taking good care of your vehicle...
Yea, I'm not honestly a fan of 4 cylinder engines, yet here I am happily driving one around. As for the 4-cylinder sound, well yea -- I'll pass. Aint nothing gonna beat a good V8 or some European performance car, that said the turn-down exhaust dump does interest me.
Yea, I used to be all about those wheel locks when I was a younger man, then I grew old. Now I don't give a rip figuring if someone has enough balls to steal the tires of my Off-Road while it's in the garage, well then they can keep 'em.
That said, I'm not into fancy wheels or all sorts of...
Based on what I noticed in the video, I didn't see any corrections for altitude, temperature, or humidity levels so I'm guessing the numbers are based on Denver at the day/time the dyno was performed. That said, I'm feeling that 15% driveline loss is a pretty generous loss, but is likely a few...
Ask me, cuz I know. I actually bought my Tacoma from this dealership. I had been wanting a smaller truck as a replacement for my Silverado and wanted one of the GM twins (Colorado/Canyon) but the damn GM dealers were so unwilling to negotiate. I had no interest in this Tacoma, but decided to go...
Same here, Toyota OEM Filters (90915-YZZN1) I ordered directly from a dealer. Pretty cheap too, around 4-5 bucks, using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20. I changed mine @ 1K Miles, will change @ 2, then 5, and every 5K from there on out.
So I'd like to respond to your comments. Prior to my first oil change, I checked my oil level several times, over the first few week or so, and basically piled on 1K miles in that week so I could swap it out, and break the engine in faster.
I noticed that every time I checked the oil, it was...
It appears to me that there's an access panel in that Victory plate for changing the oil filter, can you drain the engine oil without removing the whole plate?
A very fair comment indeed, and you may be quite right in that. I did notice that the OEM oil in the Truck seemed thinner than the 0W-20 Pennsoil I put in. But with that said I did discover that OEM's haven't been using break-in oil in vehicles since the 90's based on some info I found online...
