I find that odd that they won't replicate. I mean, US130 in Texas has a legal speed limit of 85, some roads, particularly in wide open states have no set speed limit during the day, how are you to be able to keep up with traffic if they won't bother replicating? Beyond that can't they just throw...
I think I could fully agree with you. I live in Arizona and have over 15K miles racked up in Offroad miles. Now granted 99% of those are in my SxS, but I have done maybe a thousand in my previous '18 Jeep Rubicon, and a little in this new Tacoma. I also have a '97 Jeep TJ, but don't Offroad it...
Sounds like you need to research some basic understanding of differentials. I'd recommend that, and what that means in the way wheel's are driven on an axle. There are many types of diffs's, tacoma is is basically an open diff which is emulated by brakes to make it a limited slip diff. Locking...
Well stated @SilverSurfer. That said, to me -- oil's cheap and easy to change on these things. Mine's had 5 oil changes already and it's only @ 12.5K miles. Overkill -- sure, but hit up Costco and get yourself a lot of their good quality 0-20w synthetic and you'll be rolling in black gold like me!
Honestly nothing surprises me in today's world. I'd say that as Tacoma owner I'm not enjoying the fact understanding that the towing hitch is tied directly to the frame. Seems odd to me, but again this is 2024 and not much in this world make sense to my logical old brain anymore.
All good points, thanks for the clarification on a few items such as the European vs US oil subject, and the fact that this engine is using low tension rings. Appreciate the update. Again, all good subjects for anyone wanting to understand and keep extend the life of their engines as far as...
If I had to guess, EPA requirements. That said, 0w-20 will protect your engine just fine regardless the temps. I live in Phoenix, my previous truck (Silverado w/6.2) also required 0w-20, worked just fine in the hot summers here. With that said, I have no fears of using 0w-20 in our 118 degree...
I think most of these are valid complaints. After all, inflation is high, things cost more, government is taxing you more, so yea -- why not all of that? Those are basic requests if you ask me. Unfortunately all a result of penny pinching @ Toyota to maximize profits. I do agree with you.
My...
I would encourage you to seek 5K (miles, you'll have to do the math to KM) oil changes. Not for any other reason but that oil is cheap, and engines are not. Personally I believe that 10K changes are a bit extreme for these engines these days, beyond the fact that the oil will wear out by that...
Quite possibly, didn't think of that. Not sure if I'd agree, but who knows. It's certainly a different world these days and you really can't imagine the length people would go to to deceive buyers. Good point none the less!
Thanks for taking the time to provide a review of the truck from your perspective. I certainly enjoyed reading it, and agree with all of your points. Few things, maybe worth consideration of discussions with your dealer:
1) Ignitions switch, mine performs flawlessly every time. it's always...
I completely agree with your comments here. Longtime Amsoil fan. I'll go as far as to say that their PI Performance Improver fuel treatment is phenomenal in my opinion as well. I use that every 3 to 5k miles
I do like and would always recommend Amsoil, however I decided to change things around a bit since I feel Amsoil is expensive. I've been using the Costo Kirkland 0-20w oil which comes in two 5 quart bottles for about 38 bucks or there abouts. I feel it is a damn good oil for the $. I do use OEM...
11,124 miles running great. My VIN places it in range of the TSB for the tranny, but not a single issue with it. No other problems, or issues with the truck. Very happy with it!
I wasn't able to get my filters open, the tool I picked up from Amazon wasn't able to deal with those smaller filters, so never got to see inside. I'm almost @ 11K miles now, dealer did the last change for me as part of their -- whatever they offer -- @ 8800 miles. I'm gonna change mine from...
That makes two of us. I thought that the hood insulation was a cop out, and yes I'd also like an engine cover too. All to save a few cents on manufacturing costs, and increase revenue. I think that they want $400 bucks for the hood insulation, that's highway robbery.
That’s a very good point you bring up regarding both the direct and port injection Toyota uses on this engine and carbon build up in rings and intake ports. Often overlooked by those who may not understand I’m all the nonsense (my feelings) around direct injection engines. I, for one, am not a...
It's a noisy 4 cylinder engine. I wouldn't worry about it. Few things to consider, 1) Modern engines are noisy, especially fuel injectors, 2)My truck (maybe yours too?) didn't come with any sound insulation on the hood, 3)Toyota doesn't further provide engine noise insulation with an engine...
