Heat gun is a little different than a torch, though you would have to be careful with it. Maybe a cordless hair dryer. Haven't found a propane one (did find a patent for one though).
Ever come up with any ideas? (Since window defrosters don't de-ice the tailgate). Maybe there's some de-icing spray on the market that you could use. Or a small propane heat gun?

I don't know what it is, but they seem to do it on purpose. Just had my 5000 mi service at the dealer and they inflated them to 36psi. On the checklist sheet it shows the pressure spec as 30, but then shows that they inflated them to 36. So, any time I have anyone do anything to tires I adjust...

Biggest pain was drilling the hole. Metal is thin there so the bit wants to grab and deform the surface.
2nd biggest pain was that the t-cable was soooo long. Ended up rolling it up...
I don't know about the stock ones but the ones from NYTOP are 74 lbs. each. The other aftermarket ones are similar (except for one maker that has aluminum ones).
Never liked to get close to empty so it's always been "quarter tank? look for gas" for me.
Depending on the computer to tell you when to get gas seems like a good way to get in some unexpected hiking.
