Yes, and the FordPass app works great. Zero cost. (my wife has a Bronco Sport)
What's even more egregious about Toyota is the Remote Connect *used* to be available separately at something like $8/mo or $80/yr prepaid. Now it's only available bundled with additional unnecessary (to me)...
Should be the same - the card key for Lexus predated it's availability on regular Toyotas. Didn't stop 3rd gen owners from programming a Lexus key to our Tacomas since the ECU was same/compatible. I've been using the card key since 2017. :)
Yes, a decent smart maintainer will “solve” things for you as a bandaid.
It however doesn’t address the underlying issue - there’s a problem if the truck can’t sit for two or three weeks and start right up. Whether the problem is a bad battery, a faulty charging system, a fkd up app/cellular...
My reply to that would be: What's defective in the charging system that the truck isn't maintaining a full battery charge?
Sorry, but that dealers response BS. A properly operating vehicle, under normal usage conditions, should keep the battery at or close to full charge.
I've test driven a tacoma with the digital rear view. It was a little disconcerting at first, but it was really neat. I could see it being very handy with a full rear seat or with a flipped up tonneau cover since the camera is above the rear window.
With the lever flipped you're back to a...
and if that is truly the cause, it’s a fundamental design flaw that will keep me driving my 3rd gen until fixed.
I like the 4th gen based on my test drives, but this and some other matters give me pause. I think I’ll wait to see what changes are in store for 2026 if any
Which would seems weird since the three AUX circuits are fused for 30A total per the owners manual (15/10/5). That's only 360W. Contrast to the 2400W inverter already equipped.
Now that is puzzling...
12.85V is a normal "resting" voltage for a fully charged AGM battery.
See the State of...
Given the hybrids have a 2400W inverter, they certainly should have the capability to keep a battery charged.
Pure speculation but perhaps there's a batch of faulty voltage converters driving the 12VDC system from the 288VDC hybrid system? Rest of the stuff would be fine operating at 12.2VDC...
Help me understand the thought here...
If Toyota thinks it's caused by the truck, and an alternator fixes it, why aren't they adding one to all hybrids instead of just the ones with a 4th AUX switch - which seems to be just the Pro and Trailhunter trims?
Frankly, I wonder if a couple Ryobi battery LED lights wouldn’t do as good or better at lighting the area ?

It's possible for manuf to get bad batches of batteries from their suppliers. Happened not long ago to Ford for their Bronco Sport and Mavericks, enough so to generate a recall.
Note the higher GVWR. That's a function of various things including including tire load rating and vehicle braking ability.
The hybrid regenerative braking likely can supplement the mechanical brakes, providing greater braking ability and thus perhaps allowing a higher GVWR.
I don't know...
Adding an alternator won't have any benefit unless you're drawing more power than the hybrid motor/generator can supply.
Also given other threads it's not clear that all 2025's are getting the alternator.
12.2VDC after a 30 minute drive is a bad battery (or bad charging system) regardless...
When my OEM bed step on my 3rd gen failed* after several years, I replaced it with an Amazon aftermarket model with good reviews and it's been just as good as the original.
I'd just go with a good third party model.
(*) OEM failure was the mount fractured and the whole step just fell off the...
ah yes, sorry. lol. Get under your desk, put your knees to your ears and kiss your azz goodbye. :)
I get it. The hyper over-dramatization of media is different now than when we got one - maybe two - newspapers a day and 30-60 minutes of TV news.
“If it bleeds it leads,”
Modern Media gets...
You really need to study your history before castigating those who’ve lived it.
Off the top of my head: 70’s oil crisis and impending ice age. 80’s extreme inflation and ozone holes gonna kill everyone. 1987 black Monday. 90’s lead up to Y2K gonna end the world then the dot com bust. 2000’s...
Remember putting something on layaway at the store? :)
I wonder how much of the differening mindsets come from the era in which our parents grew up, thus forming some of their lifelong perspectives which they instilled in their kids?
Observing my kids (adult) friends there are two guys who...
