  1. Heads-Up Display (HUD) on 2024 Tacoma - Like/Dislike?

I think you are right @Ron. It works with Apple maps and I find them more accurate these days than google maps so I have never tried that. That change would probably happen in the Apple OS and maybe it will come along eventually.
  2. Heads-Up Display (HUD) on 2024 Tacoma - Like/Dislike?

Yeah - I saw all of the driving modes you get with the AVS - very nice. I think the HUD should be standard or everything with the premium packages and above, and I am surprised that nicely equipped ORs don't have it.
  3. Heads-Up Display (HUD) on 2024 Tacoma - Like/Dislike?

I also like that it shows navigation prompts from Apple Car Play and Android Auto, not just the Toyota nav. It comes up at the same time as you would get voice prompts. I have come to appreciate it in my wife's Lexus SUV and it is the same display in our Tacomas. It has all the information that...
  4. Heads-Up Display (HUD) on 2024 Tacoma - Like/Dislike?

I don't have an image handy, but it displays each turn as you get close to it. So it is not out there all the time but when it is time to pay attention it appears with text and an arrow showing your turn.
  5. 2024 impressions from a 2019 Tacoma owner

Some Tacomas are getting a spray in bed liner on top of the composite at the port. I have had two Tacomas with composite beds and there is no need for that, and I have read that it does not stick all that well to the bed material. All you really need is a bed mat, because the composite beds are...
  6. RCI Rock Sliders installed

@YourOnlineHero glad the speaker was there - is your seat air pump in the glove box? I agree about the truck. I have driven a lot of different trucks and this is the nicest one so far for me. I also agree about the wait being worth it. I have an appointment for PPF install in about 10 days...
  7. RCI Rock Sliders installed

Your truck looks beautiful - Congrats! I can't stop going out to look at mine and you are right, it looks badass and drives like a dream. My truck has the JBL speaker and yes, it is standard. You need to follow up with your dealer on that, but on the bright side, some people think it sounds...
  8. 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro Full Transmission Replacement After 342 Miles

@fostuhh Success! It looks sweet and they treated you well. I hope there are some nice goodies on their way.
  9. 2024 Tacoma sport has issues with front tire mud flap! My black Sport has debris (stone) damage to the rear quarter panel.

Yeah - that is a good choice. The tires on my Pro are only about 1/2 covered by the factory flaps. I am adding RCI sliders, which will provide some protection and also getting PPF on the rear fenders. If that is not enough I will get better flaps like @ridetime has.
  10. RCI Rock Sliders installed

Thanks for posting the pictures @MT-Taco. They look good and I love the protection in a parking lot as well as on a trail. I think that there will be a lot of the Pro rocker protectors being sold soon. I ordered mine about a week ago and the wait begins. :)
  11. Steps for rock sliders on TRD PRO?

@YourOnlineHero I ordered those last week too. I like the smooth, clean look of these and I want sliders, not what came on our trucks. BTW do you have your truck now?
  12. Bolts to Black & Visor Warning Removal

The bolts are a nice touch, but getting those ugly visor stickers off is epic. I have given up on other vehicles because they usually leave the visor material damaged. It looks like this is doable on a 4th gen and I will have to check this out.
  13. TSB: 2024 Tacoma Transmission Failures Issue & Replacement (9/9/24). Updated w/ VIN Lookup Tool

So you are only really covered by this if you have at least one stored code referenced in the TSB. Any other shifting issues, such as harsh sifts are still up to the dealer to check into or ignore as they wish.
  14. Build Week vs Delivery Date

Mine started showing an estimated availability when it was in transport. My truck stopped showing an estimate when it was about 5 days away, which was probably when it got to the port. No idea if that is normally how it works however.
  15. TSB: 2024 Tacoma Transmission Failures Issue & Replacement (9/9/24). Updated w/ VIN Lookup Tool

A dump and fill might help but it might not. Toyota being conservative would probably prefer to just change out the affected transmissions and be done with it. If the percentage of failures gets very high they will do a recall like they did with the Tundra engines. If they don't it will mean...
  16. Shock top hat failure on our stock 2024 Tacoma Off-Road while offroading

@SonoranSurvivalist Yeah - I think you are right on all of that. I will try to get a picture with more direct light on the top hat for comparison, and I still haven't looked at an OR. The OR is a very capable off road truck and Toyota needs to fix that problem as soon as possible.
  17. Shock top hat failure on our stock 2024 Tacoma Off-Road while offroading

That was what I was thinking too, although I have not yet looked closely at other trims. I will do that the next time I am at my dealer. I have not read about this failure in any THs or Pros so maybe I am OK. If I can get a better picture I will post it.
  18. TSB: 2024 Tacoma Transmission Failures Issue & Replacement (9/9/24). Updated w/ VIN Lookup Tool

This part has been known for a while, and it is not a design flaw. When Aisin cast the torque converter bodies some of them were not properly cleaned, leaving casting debris inside. That was picked up by the transmission fluid in the torque converter and migrated into the transmission. In the...
  19. Homemade Rock Sliders

Those look great, and better than some commercial ones I have seen. It takes some time to do pretty welds like the OP did. I can weld but it never looks like that! I ordered RCI sliders and they are 74 pounds per side, so you beat them.
  20. TSB: 2024 Tacoma Transmission Failures Issue & Replacement (9/9/24). Updated w/ VIN Lookup Tool

Nope - only Toyota knows and they ain't talking. But I think it is still a pretty small number, even if you are included in the TSB. If your truck is currently working fine I say drive it, enjoy it and worry about it if it breaks.
