Except it's not, the Tacoma Bro, who is the staple customer for these trucks, isn't hauling a family around. I cannot at any time in my life recall seeing a family getting out of a Tacoma of any generation. Toyota knows what they are doing.
The Sport is a street truck, Toyota designed it that way, it is delivered with street tires, an air dam, and street tuned suspension. It has no ATRAC, no MTS, and no locker. If two wheels lose traction, the truck is not moving. These are facts, and dredging up photos from your past do not change...
You can turn any vehicle into an off road vehicle, nobody's arguing against that.
Until you lose traction in one of your front tires, and one of your rear tires at the same time... then your truck isn't going anywhere without using rocks, branches, or traction boards to recover.

A company who makes some of these has been sending me stuff to see how well it fits, because they don't have the truck. I absolutely love the particular piece that I have, it fits perfect and goes in and out easy.
It would be cool to see a Sport built into a kickass street truck, with meaty street tires and such. But every time I see one modified, it gets off road tires and a lift, etc, and I'm like, you could have simply bought an SR5 4x4 and gotten the same off road capability for multiple thousands...
It's a bit more than software, but Toyota knew that they could build a less complex/less capable truck, and charge nearly the same for it, by adding a non-functional hood scoop to it. It's genius really.
Yes, the Sport is stiffer because it's a street truck and designed to hug corners. You mentioned the Sport not having a rear locker, which is correct, but for me it's the lack of MTS that would make the Sport a no go for me.
I've been mud stuck while in 4Lo, and the experience of MTS putting...
I haven't had any issues, I set mine to 85f and it's always at that setting when I remote start through the app. I only wish the truck would stay running longer than 10 minutes, because that's not long enough to melt the ice off during our bad winters.
The $100 difference in price is worth paying for the Readylift kit, just to avoid having to hold the bolts into place while you tighten things up on the RC kit.
