I went from a meaty Falken 285/75/17 down to a Nitto G3 275/70/17 tire. The narrower tire is perfect. I couldn’t be happier with my new Nitto’s.
The 285’s felt like I was riding on balloons, especially around corners. They looked great but the compromise wasn’t it worth it.
Great adventure, thanks for sharing.
I imagine the vast majority of people who live in SoCal don’t know there is public access to Santiago Peak. This trip would be impossible/hazardous if it started raining.
I went with King performance shocks as well and 88 Rotors did the install. I’m very pleased with the King’s, a highly recommended suspension upgrade.
Buy once, cry once.
Congrats!
I love the new FL5 Type R. Probably the last ICE powered Type R before Honda switches to a hybrid or all EV. The Type R uses the best manual tranny in the biz.
?? for the Bonobo SK24 shifter. It's a high quality product that comes with a super easy install. I love how it looks like an OEM Toyota part. The TRD engraved logo lis a great touch.

Those who are buying a Tacoma over a full size truck for better fuel efficiency are in for a rude awakening.
The new 2.4L 4-cyl turbo, the T24A-FTS, will be lucky to achieve 20 mpg under real life conditions.
The panel fit and fitment on my 2024 Tacoma is exemplary. Every panel is aligned perfectly and gaps are uniform. It definitely lives up to Toyota's legendary assembly quality.
The thin factory paint is a negative however.
I would suggest not modifying your factory suspension. Toyota may not honor a warranty repair down the road.
My best suggestion is a set of retractable side steps for getting in/out of the cabin.
I heard that the factory PRO suspension needs to go through a break in period before smoothing...
I found that the best affordable DIY solution is super tough Raptor 2K bedliner aerosol for around $38 a can. It’s a bit pricey but extremely durable. The finished product looks like it was professionally applied. Just be sure to purchase more than you think you will need...
