OVS Expedition Truck Cap Long Bed - Installed

I took the dive on this since there wasn't much info about these caps. Ordered it back on October 31st for $2100 and arrived on a pallet on December 30th. For around 2k I was surprised on the good quality of the metal. I wanted a topper preferably in metal, but didn't want to spend 4k+ on the competition. Instructions were pretty clear and I was able to put it together in an afternoon. It took 4 people to get it mounted since it weighs almost 230 pounds.

My only gripe is they don't supply the special wiring harness for the third brake light like Leer and SmartCap. They stated TBA. I'll add more if there's further developments.

Overall it's not a bad buy for a simple topper. I plan to install a roof rack to mount the tent and awning on this.

It looks like their design for the back door will allow for you to open the cap without opening the tailgate.

I know that has been an issue on other brands.

Looks great, especially for the money spent. I on the other hand when with the SmartCap and it's been an adventure.
The first smart cap.I received wasn't prepped properly, and the powder coat came off the roof the first time. I washed it. It took 3 months of back-and-forth before they replaced the cap. No problem with this new one, absolutely love the canopy. I hear a lot of people complain about their smartcap leaking. I have found if you take the time ever once in awhile to tighten the hardware holding it together I haven't had any problems with it, and I run with a rooftop tent and 270 awning.
I will say I can open my canopy without opening the tailgate.

Mine finally arrived on Friday after nearly a year of waiting. I purchased it during a 15% off sale. I hope to install it this weekend. I will be inquiring about the 3rd brake light wiring as well.

Also, OVS now offers side window shells for the first time.

Is it Western, I think? They make bumpers and all that PaPa F150 driving add on chrome nonsense.

I refused to pay what smart cap was wanting for their caps. Now all the made in china caps are asking the same money.

The OVS has some great reviews on youtube. I wish I had gone that route when I bought my diamondback lid.
