I did a weight study for my 2024 Trailhunter build. I got the weights for the SAR lights, scene lights, radios, rack, bed drawer, cargoglide, Leitner boxes, water cans, tools, clothes, etc etc. I calculated load at front, load in bed, and total load. I used that information to select Dobson...
The Leitner Gearpod Duals on each side are being replaced with the HD (needed more storage).
I also am swapping out the Decked CargoGlide I initially put on top of the Decked Drawers, with a CargoGlide 600 down the middle. The Gearpods overhung the glide... making about 1/3 of it unusable, and...
Thanks for the writeup. I installed the Banks on my TrailHunter. I am waiting for the Ram-Air and Intercooler to complete this part of my mod plan... now 2.5 pages long. Due to all my mods, largely for a Search and Rescue specific built... I am looking at PowerBrake too! Highly recommended...
Marie, I have a heavily modified Trailhunter (an ARB 5168 suspension for one) used for Search and Rescue here in King County. We are hosting SARPOSIUM at Remlinger Farms this Thursday... with TACO BAR, Navy and police helicopters, vendors, SAR stories and more. My truck will be there.
Great writeup! I installed the Banks boost tube upgrade and will add the Ram-Air and Intercooler too. I see Lauren01 on here - HI!
My 2024 Trailhunter has been heavily modified, and is used exclusively for SAR and some overlanding...
It's kind of remarkable that several of us in my SAR...
Yes, so far a disappointing experience. For the price of the system, and the fact that the cameras are made by Panasonic, I would think we could expect a better one. But I will keep trying - I know the system can work as it did initially. Really wish I had not dropped camera 2 - antenna...
My Trailhunter had it OEM. Camera pairing has proved to be problematic. Camera 1 did not pair. Camera 2 worked, but I damaged it (dang it) and replaced it with Camera 3. Camera 3... trying to pair but so far no joy.
And the camera is HUGE compared to the Garmin I had on my T@B 320S...
Toyota installs a different configuration with the OEM system. There are hardware components added during the build. My Trailhunter has three sharkfin antennae on the roof, not just one. So I am not aware of any ability to add the OEM WCS to a truck not built for it.
There may be some third...
Thanks. Been doing recovery for awhile now... both military and SAR, as well as overlanding.
There is lots of gear out there, some good, some not, some used very seldom, with lots of opinions on what is "best". I find that if I have it with me it is "best". Garage gear doesn't do much...
I don't know them but it sure is a small world. I grew up in Bellevue, then in adulthood moved a bit as I was active duty Army after Gonzaga U... then back to Seattle and Eastside after 7 years active. Moved here in 2022 to be in the foothills for SAR response. Probably 85% or so of our...
I replied in a different thread. I have used Raingler products for years, first some custom nets for my Jeep Grand Cherokee, and most recently the attic and a tailgate net for my Trailhunter. The attic holds lightweight items (SAR vest, gloves, beanie, some various radio, GPS holsters in a...
My friend Matt installed the ARB bumper. It is really nice on the Trailhunter. It's best to avoid using it to corral the critters! I live in North Bend, 31 miles East of Seattle on I90. We have a herd of elk who live right outside town and hang out. We love them and we all do our best to...
We did not used to have wildfires in Western WA. But times have changed.
You folks down south have a beautiful place to live... with lots of environmental challenges. Follow your interests and you will make a significant contribution. SAR tends to be very intense depending on where you live...
I have made some changes but you get the idea. Side steps I added to the rock rails are gone, and I installed a Cali Raised step rail set that I really like. Offers a bit of a platform to step on to get in and to reach up to my roof rack.
SAR tends to vary from state to state, but is largely staffed by volunteers most places. We work for the Sheriff under a State law governing the Emergency Worker Program. There is a Division under our Military Department that handles Emergency Management for the State, and counties and...
Thank you so very much. 10mm long tip. I just purchased the ones you sent the link for.
Use force. Strong language as needed.
They sure do not make this easy.
All kidding aside, thanks for taking the time to help me. I use this truck for Search and Rescue, and getting the equipment...
I had same problem with camera #1 bought with truck. Simply would not charge or pair. Exchanged under warranty, Toyota got it to pair. I could not. Sometime later, found that camera #2 had a broken antenna mount due to an undisclosed "drop" that left a crack so water intruded. Shorted out...
I suggest three (3) soft shackles. Ideally you put one on the towing vehicle with a centered towing shackle, to make a V... spreading out to a recovery point on each side of the towed vehicle... if you can. The other application would be to hook up on the same side of each vehicle to keep a...
