Bought a brand new 2025 Sport 6mt about a month ago. I drove it home from the dealer 250 miles. A week later at around 400 miles I get a check gas cap message, so I do and it goes away. The next morning I get a CEL. I take to my local dealer and they say it was probably a loose gas cap and I guess cleared the code. Drove the truck another 150 miles 2 days later for a trip and parked it for 3 days. When I started up to leave from the trip I get the same message check gas cap, again I shut the truck off unscrew the cap and tighten and the message goes away. The next morning I get the same CEL and code. Dealer takes the truck in 2 days later. After the truck sat at the dealership for the holiday weekend (5 days ) they tell me they replaced tha gas cap and it seem fine. Service advisor tells me in a text the tech installed a new gas cap and ran a smoke test that passed then test drove and no code. She said Toyota said we can release the truck back to you. I pick up the truck then read the paperwork, my fault should have read it there. Paperwork says replaced gas cap if cel comes back will have to do a smoke test on EVAP. The next morning I start the truck and get check gas cap same as before and the following morning get the CEL and same code. At this point I’ve owned the truck for 40 days and it has 900 miles on it and has been out of service 6 days cumulatively and hasn’t gone a week without a CEL which knocks out cruise control and other tech. Should I call Toyota customer service directly and try to open a claim or bring back to the dealer for the third time in 3weeks?
