I had this issue, I deleted my toyota app and downloaded the Lexus app and it fixed the issue!

I have been using the Lexus version of the app, as you suggested, and have not had the system drop or malfunction in that time, whereas it would typically have dropped multiple times already. I don't know why the same manufacturer would have different experiences with basically the same app -but different branding- but it seems to work. Thanks for the suggestion!
