Just dropped a new video on my YouTube channel SmokyMtnTaco where I take my 2025 Tacoma Trailhunter up Stone Mountain (elevation 3,606 ft) deep in the Cherokee National Forest near Cocke County, TN.

This trail is no joke after a heavy rainstorm — rated a 2–3 on difficulty, with steep rocky switchbacks, washouts, and tight climbs.

Trail Details:
  • Location: Hall Top Rd
  • Conditions: Post-storm, slick and rocky
  • Gear Used: 4HI, 4LO, rear locker, sway bar disconnect
  • Mods Applied Mid-Trail: DIY trail armor (to fend off side scratches)
  • Highlights:
    • Massive views from the summit
    • Drone caught a live storm in the distance!
    • Historic 1934 Hall Top Fire Tower (stairs missing — caution)

🎥 Video includes: Side-mounted cam, interior cam, and drone flyovers.
💬 Would love your feedback — especially from anyone who's wheeled this area before.

Anyone else been up Stone Mountain or Hall Top? Drop your setups, tips, or alternate routes. I’m planning more Cherokee NF runs soon and would love trail recs.

Stay safe and tread lightly,

The irony of this post. The reason I start with this is because I’m flying back from vacation as I’m typing this and was just at Stone Moutain today finishing up vacation in Atlanta. I didn’t know they were doing renovations on a few things until I paid to enter. Unfortunately, I did not see your TACO there today. But, very impressed you took your Trailhunter there. During my entire week in Atlanta, I did not see any PRO’s or TrailHunters driving around. I did see quite a few SR5’s, limited, and off-roads driving around.
