I was contemplating purchasing a LEXUS/Toyota vehicle and saw concerns online about owner privacy, specifically, the logging and transmission of driver data back to Toyota/LEXUS.
Many folks appear to classify these concerns as trivial and/or a 'tin foil hat' episode. I strongly disagree.
In my searching, I stumbled across a LEXUS Privacy Notice issued July 1, 2026, all 25 pages of it. Before dismissing peoples concerns, I ask that the nay sayer's read each word of the document and pay particular attention to the years that Lexus/Toyota will retain your information. The data transmitted includes pictures and voices. I was shocked by what I read.
Privacy concerns are warranted. This document is overreach.
I hope this helps LEXUS and TOYOTA owners or contemplating owners understand what is at stake. Perhaps, it is time for a class action lawsuit as no one else is stepping in to regulate this privacy violation. I'm now thinking of not purchasing the NX. My old 2014 Mercedes has no data transmission capabilities and I feel better about that vs having the latest and greatest new car features. A shame as I had wanted to try a hybrid.
