FYI you can stay in the SL in 275/70R18 in the Nitto G3 @ 46lbs or Yokohama Geolandar @ 43lbs if you're not stuck on the Falken! I mentioned above, but found the yokos loud between 30-45 which is where I do most my driving.
Think I need to do more research on the nittos. I need good rain/snow rating for where I am in the mountain west, which is why (up until now, thought) I decided on the at4w. Also just like how they look too!

Think I need to do more research on the nittos. I need good rain/snow rating for where I am in the mountain west, which is why (up until now, thought) I decided on the at4w. Also just like how they look too!
I'd have done Falkens too if they had the SL.
We don't have a lot of options. Almost kicking myself for not going with method 17s but I do love my wheels and when you get a good deal on OEM it's like half the price.

I will say too man, I've spent an embarrassing amount of time researching tires now lol I never really cared about my tires with my last 20+ vehicles, but part of the reason I chose the 275 Yokohama was the weight was only up 4lbs over stock so I thought I'd see a minimal economy hit, but just with that 265 to 275 size increase and 4lb weight increase, the hit on mpg was noticeable. I'm averaging 15.5 in town with no lift driving like a grandma with a 275/70R18 @ 43lbs. That's part of the reason I am dropping back to 265 with the replacement Nittos. We will see what happens! I'll be interested to hear your experience if you don't mind following up here.

Yep, I’ll post everything.

And yeah, from my own research it’s not just tire weight that matters. It’s the combo of tire weight, rolling resistance from the tread and sidewall squish, tire size (diameter matters more than width, but both play a role), and wheel weight.

I know my new wheels are wider, but they’re also lighter than the OEM wheels, so I’m clawing some of that rotating mass back.

By going from 265/70R18 to 285/65R18, I’m not really changing tire diameter, just increasing tire width by about 0.8 inches, and increasing wheel width by 0.5 inches with the BBS. Yes, the tires will be heavier too, but this truck was never meant to be a commuter anyway.

I'm beginning to think I don't have the understanding that I thought I did haha we changed my wife's wranglers tires from 255/70R18 OEM Dueller ATs to 275/70R18 Pathfinder All terrain in an E ratting at 58lbs and she lost 1.5mpg on her 4cycl. Less than I lost going up one size and 4lbs. So idk. But I'll be interested to hear what you do and what effects it has ! Cheers brother

You went E load with the 265/70 if I recall correct? You think I could go 285/65 (and keep it SL) no issues?
Yes, E load. Since I am seldom on a highway they aren’t an issue for me. If I was doing long distance driving, I would probably be running a softer, lighter tire.

You should not have issues with that size tire. Other members here are running them with the same wheels. @ronlee has them on his truck.
