Factory do it yourself AUX switchs.

If you didn't get the AUX switches and want to go factory and make the pigtails for each switch here are the part numbers for the connectors, all 4 are different and the individual wire. You need 5 for each switch pin if you want to cover the pin count inside the switch. I do not have the switch part numbers in this photo. Those numbers are all different as well.

To add to TimC’s useful post:


Aux1 switch: part# 84485-AK010 (supersedes 84484-35010)
Switch terminal + wire: part# 82998-24290
Switch terminal connector: 90980-12C78

The switch is not inexpensive ~$84 + tax, and the connector will need to be wired correctly so at least 2 of the terminal wires will be needed, but it is possible.

The chart posted on a dealer site would indicate that any of the lower left control panel switches are available, Aux1 through 4, the fuel door release switch etc. The numbers on the diagram relate to part numbers that have been superseded, but someone in a Toyota parts center should be able to find the new numbers.

Makes me think about adding the locking fuel flap that TRD ORs and others don’t get, no doubt for cost saving reasons!

Nice addition, I hope this helps someone. It was awful trying to dig all this out with a parts guy who had zero interest helping me.
Regarding the AUX switch pins (5) of them on the back side. Does anyone know which pins control the switch backlight and components you will power? I have this to do still yet.

Tim, I don’t have access to wiring charts, someone on here might, so I would use a multimeter and battery to work out which lines are switched and which are to be powered. Good luck.

Tim, this is a very helpful post thanks . Do you know if all Tacoma models are pre-wired and fused ? Of the models pre-wired, do we know the fused limits ? Lastly where are the fused wires located in the truck ? I’m assuming they are somewhere behind bumper ?

I totally forgot I have these. It was with my owners manual in the garage storage cabinet. I believe they are the oem aux1-4 pigtails.

If you ever do try for the factory locking gas cap let us know how it goes. Thats one feature I was disappointed I couldn't get and would love if I could add it in myself if possible.

My truck is not prewired for AUX switched. I looked behind the panel where prewired harness should be, but not to be. I will add a fuse block similar to an earlier thread posted. The picture you have here is what my panel will look like but I will be able to turn on, let's say the light bar, directly instead of clicking on the high beams. So far, getting all the parts will be harder than doing the actual work. Good luck to all doing g this and please post all your progress.
