Disclaimer: Once again for the sake of full transparency, the Michelin floor liner mats were sent to me to review for free from TreadAuto. I was not paid for this review, and I was upfront with the sponsor that my review would be honest, unbiased, whether that be to their benefit, or detriment. On to the review.

A lot of new truck owners may be interested in floor liners. The dealers make the OEM ones quite appealing, bundling them into the truck purchase. This review is for those on the fence, or may already have the OEM liners like myself. First we'll go over coverage:

Aftermarket Michelin (Note: the driver and passenger are switched, cause I'm dumb):

As you can see the Michelin liners do have far more coverage than OEM. They are considerably larger, with taller sides offering much more containment of the "gunk" you drag in. For many owners this isn't a huge issue, especially with our black carpet hiding stains well. However, for those of us in the rust belt, I want to point your attention to the drivers top right corner:

That lack of coverage is a sore spot for alot of owners of oem mats as it allows contamination right where the driver leaves their foot. I do have a theory as to why this is, Toyota had a big safety snafu with the runaway Prius years ago due to floor mats. I believe that is why they choose not to cover that area anymore. However, salty slush soaking into the carpet over time REALLY does a number to steel, as seen on another project I'm working on:

Aftermarket liners covering that location is critical for those of us in the rust belt.

Overall review of the liners themselves:

Pros: The Michelin liners provide much more coverage than OEMs. Fit and finish seems good and they lock in using the factory twist locks. This set in particular doesn't have white lettering, a close eye can see my oem ones are already stained on the white letters despite refular cleaning and my western style footwear tracking minimal mud and dirt.

Cons: The material used is much harder than the oems. Factory liners use a soft rubber that is more flexible and provide better traction as well as easier removal and reinstallation at the car wash. The Michelin liners ship folded and due to that stiffness, required multiple days in the sun to get those creases out.

At the end of the day I would highly recommend these liners over the oems and in general. Especially for those of us stuck in the salt covered roads part of the country. They're worth the investment.
