Amazon is having a pretty good sale on solar stuff.

im wondering if there’s a setup that I can DIY where flexible panels are mounted to a frame or something that then connects to the roof rack of a topper like the OVS (I don’t have their crossbars) such that in normal operation, the panels are mounted but if I wanted to park it, or use it at the house to recharge a power bank and leave the truck in the garage, the panels could be removed and placed at an advantageous angle to be used away from the truck.

im sure I could do it, but I’d love other ideas than what’s in my head.

Thanks!

I can't help with your concept, but keep in mind that most flexibles are junk. Make sure you go with a high-quality ETFE panel, such as one made by Renogy.

It will be a lot easier to make it a permanent installation since otherwise, you'll need to move the controller, too.

Good luck.

I'm going to say yes, and give you two options.

1. Instead of mounting something just get one of the suitcase options out there. That way you can move it around as necessary.

2a. On my 4Runner I have a 100W panel mounted to my roof tent. It's not installed with crossbars, but instead bolted through the tent. To make it removable, should I need to, I used wing nuts.

2b. On my Tacoma I have two 190W panels mounted to the canopy camper using crossbars. They are bolted down using hex nuts, but I could have just as easy used wing nuts.
